I want a butter dish! Find me one, since it's your fault and all...

I know the butter dish discussion was ages ago, but I have decided that I need one.

I want one where the butter sits on a flat thing and the domed top goes over it. Not one that is shaped like an actual dish with a flat lid.

Can you find me one please? Preferably one that I can buy without leaving my sofa.

I got ours from Ikea. It cost a whole £3.

DazzleII · 28/10/2011 09:48

Dwell have a nice Buddha one. If you like the Buddha.

thenightsky · 28/10/2011 09:49

Dunelm Mills have a selection of nice ones.

Made from what? Ceramic? Glass? Metallic?

Obv not butter, despite its name.

ShakeThyGoryKnottyLocks · 28/10/2011 09:52

Bloody hell, I've just found one made of concrete. Madness.

naturalbaby · 28/10/2011 09:53

Bodum?

Trills · 28/10/2011 09:55

If I go to Ikea I'll spend a LOT more than £3 :o

Made from, um, I don't know. What should a butter dish be made from? I just want a special thing to keep my butter in, instead of it sitting in the packet.

Oooh, that one's quite snazzy naturalbaby.

I think I'd like one that is shaped like a butter dish, Not like buddha or a cow or anything.

It might be fun to say "would you like some buddha on your toast" :o

Seen one in M&S retro style with a green edge.

aStabbingStrangleways · 28/10/2011 09:58

Ikea for us too (after months of inexplicable searching). Nice and plain and usable. Just run through the rest of the store with your eyes shut Grin

Slubberdegullion · 28/10/2011 09:58

Mine is from John Lewis. Perfectly plain and rather dull but contains the butter nicely, as you would expect.

HOWEVER, if my JL butter dish should come to an untimely end I want one of these. The camping fraterity rates them. It's a butter dish you can travel with. Pricey but hey, mobile.

I bought one in Home Bargains (grim up north cheapo but brilliant shop for those who don't know) for the princely sum of £1.99. Spotty and Kidston-esque - was mucho chuffed until got it home and realised that a standard block (is it block? bar?) of butter is approx 1cm too wide to fit under the lid

Eggrules · 28/10/2011 10:01

Our local Co-op does a glass one for £3.
If you can't go in just for that, at least they sell wine Wine

My wedgwood blue butter dish has just got broken and I am looking for a replacement. I think that range has been discontinued, so will watch this thread with interest for ideas. I have seen these which are quite nice, but not the same as my old one

moonbells · 28/10/2011 10:08

I've got the Bodum one. Got used for a few months then went back into the cupboard as I was fed up of the mess caused by accidental over-microwaving while softening the butter!

Now just use the fridge door butter compartment, and if we need butter for a meal eg baked spuds, I'll just put some in a small dish.

TheSkiingGardener · 28/10/2011 10:09

I have a lovely classic white ceramic one. From Sainsburys, so cheap too.

Trills · 28/10/2011 10:11

If I go to Ikea and only buy the butter dish it'll still cost me enough in petrol that I might as well buy the ridiculously expensive Lakeland one (very mixed reviews of that one, but if the Camping people like it is must be good).

All this talk of Ikea and Home Bargains is forgetting one of my major points - I want to buy it buy clicking without moving from my seat! :o

Not Wedgwood, Denby it was. No wonder I couldn't find it.here it is. Out of stock, but anyway.........

seeker · 28/10/2011 10:15

I want this one

seeker · 28/10/2011 10:18

But I've got this one cutting my butter dish according to my cloth!

Trills · 28/10/2011 10:20

OK, I have decided no ironic writing and no cutsey patterns either. Plain.

That cow one looks like something my gran would have. In a good way... :)

Anyway seeker those are both the wrong way up.

MonstrouslyNarkyPuffin · 28/10/2011 10:26

Oh I've wanted an excuse to link to these for ages. There's a whole range. And so reasonably priced too Grin

SunnilyEnough · 28/10/2011 10:26

This or this

Velvetbee · 28/10/2011 10:29

Irrelevant but.. I have the black toast one Seeker, in memory of a favourite childhood cat which did indeed eat half a pound of butter and was very sick. I have memories of my mum trying to get buttery cat vomit out of the carpet.
I have just cracked the lid (again) but can't afford to replace it - too many children now to afford poncy china!
