No talk of Paxo or Bisto puhleeeeeeeze!!!!!!

How about the booze issue????

I think Christmas Eve will be a seafood feast as usual (crabs from the lleyn peninsula are the best in the world!)
Lashings of Miuscadet to accompany and perhaps tropica lfruit afterwards.

Christmas Day.......goose and stuffed apples with spiced red cabbage,brussel sprouts,root vegetable mash (turnip,parsnip and carrots with cream and nutmeg) and roast potatoes. Good Burgundy avec
Smoked salmon and caviar blinis to start with vats of Champagne.
Christmas pudding,Stilton and oatcakes with a Sauternes.

New Years Eve....rolled pork belly and quince compote followed by a pavlova. Not sure of the accompaniments or the wine at present.

It's my first Xmas in the UK!!! And I'm cooking, just for the three of us, which as far as I'm concerned is lovely!
Not finalised the menu yet.....
Ususally in France we have a big Xmas eve dinner and then a good Xmas lunch but maybe not as big as in the UK

My vague plan so far is
Xmas eve: Champagne and nibbles, fish of some sort (would love lobster but dh not keen), good french cheese, home made lemon sorbet (dd's fave)

Xmas lunch: usually have goose so might go very british and have turkey (mainly for the leftovers I think...), roast potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. Starter of smoked salmon and blinis, with frozen vodka. Xmas cake, stilton....

Boxing day: no idea, new concept for me!!

Butternut squash and truffle soup

Smoked Swordfish on a Shallot and Herb Pancake

Turkey Paupiette with Chestnut Mousse and Saus Meat, Roasted Root Veg and Thyme Mashed potato

Pannettone Bread and Butter Pudding with Xmas Pud Icecream

Cheese Platter with Homemade Chutney and Walnut and Sultana Bread

Coffee and Petis Fours

And DH is cooking the lot!!!!!!!!!

I'm still in the deliberating stage but as it is only us for Christmas and New Year I can't decide whether to keep it very simple or not.

DH wants beef on Christmas day but the children would prefer turkey so that's my first decision to make. Will be going to Neal's Yard to get the cheese but Gorwyddd caerphilly from the stall in Borough Market. Will buy a pudding but only because I love my brandy sauce recipe so much! Waitrose has The Carved Angel ones but £15 seems rather a lot for a pudding.

Veg regardless will be garlic and lemon carrots, sprouts, roast potatoes (goose fat of course), honey glazed parsnips and will have a mash of some sort to please the children.

If it is turkey we will have bacon-wrapped chipolatas and I will make a stuffing with some fruit in to keep it moist. If it is beef then we will have Yorkshire puddings.

Starter will be smoked salmon with soda bread or maybe blinis.

Christmas Eve will be simple food - kedgeree possibly. I will be baking all day and cooking the ham so never fancy eating much.

New Year's Eve - may well go for lamb if I can get a nice leg. If not it will probably be pork but maybe stuffed fillet with caramelised apple rather than a joint. May have frozen berries with white chocolate sauce for pudding. Depends whether or not an exceptionally late night is likely.

Have got the champagne sorted but DH is supposed to have ordered the rest!

we're trying to decide between rib of beef and turkey. wild smoked salmon or smoked halibut or something to start. xmas pudding and a pavlova for afters.

veg will be sprouts sauteed in butter with bacon and chestnuts, roast potatoes, and parsnips and carrots roasted with thyme and crushed coriander seeds.

Ooo this all sounds yummy!

Here's my menu plan..

Christmas Eve - Homemade fish pie made with cod, prawns and salmon.
Christmas Day - Boiled eggs and toast for breakfast, Lunch will be Roast Turkey (which MIL is cooking and bringing over!) sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, parmesan coated parsnips, Roast potatoes and some other green veg, little sausages wrapped up in streaky smoked bacon, bread sauce and cranberry sauce and pudding will be christmas pud or pavlova and then probably a buffet with party food for tea.
Boxing day will be baked ham, red cabbage and baked potatoes

New years eve - I'll be on my own as DP is working late so will probably have something really garlicky as DP hates garlic!!!

I LOVE Christmas, so much. We're having

Christmas Eve - sausage, mash and onion gravy.

Christmas Day - sausage and bacon sandwiches
Blinis with smoked salmon and creme fraiche
Turkey (from Kelly farms a real treat), roast potatoes, carrots, brocolli and mage tout with falvoured butters, maple glazed parsnips, sage and onion stuffing and gravy
Christmas pudding or yule log as dh hates dried fruit, with cream or custard
Coffee and chocolate truffles
All washed down with lots of champagne, pink for preference

Boxing Day - Roast beef, yorkshire pudding etc.

27th - nothing after all of that!!!!!

Christmas Eve: Venison sausage casserole, mash, red cabbage. Fab bottle of NZ Pinot which I am saving myself for (will be 22 wks pg)
Christmas Day: squeezed clementine juice and champagne, bacon and eggs.
Over to PILS for turkey (organic, free range from the farm over the road) and all the bits, will be good as she is excellent at Xmas dinner. Various good wines and champagne for all the others, probably Bumbleberry juice on ice for me
Boxing Day - hmmm can't decide about Nigellas Ham in coca cola - don't think I can face it so baked ham with mustard and honey, more mash and red cabbage, plus homemade pickles and relishes [proud].

Loads of delicious Godmanstone Cheddar and Dorset Blue vinny cheese and oatcakes throughout the season. Also have a side of wild smoked salmon on order, plus local made pork pies and game pies - all to offer people that come round. Somerset Cider Brandy as aperitifs and Kingston Black sparkling cider to drink as well as the wine and champagne. Lagavulin whisky for the guys.

much better to have the sauternes with some foie gras starter either on xmas or new years eve - or indeed to have it with the pavlova on NYE (although I am a great believer that the best accompaniment to sauternes is foie gras).
But NOT with your stilton, please, it would be such a waste!!!
