That would be the worry shoppingb. Xmas Grin

Go on then - tell us more, what flavoues are there?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 18/12/2010 09:43

lol at 3 in ten seconds

yup that would be me, too

stnikkilarse1978 · 18/12/2010 09:53

What are they made from? They look nasty but then I am not a dessert person.

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 09:56

But can you polish off a whole box of 12 of those Thorntons miniature caramel and chocolate shortbreads in under 5 minutes? I can.

Ok, I feel sick afterwards, granted. But it's worth it.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 18/12/2010 09:58

ooh Fellatio, that is VAIR impressive noshing

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 10:05

Yes, it is.

I try not to do it on a daily basis, obviously. Blush

But if I'm having a deranged pre-menstrual day where I start to turn into the Incredible Hulk if I don't get my hands on some serious carbs, pronto, they are my drug of choice. Grin

ChristmasTrolleyRage · 18/12/2010 10:05

I ate a whole box of liqueur chocs last night in my pisssdoffness - took me about 8 minutes.

Did I feel better?

No. Sad

To add insult to injury they still had the raffle ticket on them from the school Christmas Fayre.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 18/12/2010 10:07

Dessert sandwiches????

Confused
trumpton · 18/12/2010 10:32

Oh Fellatio. I LOVE those caramel shortbreads. I too can eat them very very fast.

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 10:47

The key to their addictiveness is the way they taste really salty, yet sweet.

OK, need to stop talking about them now. Have put (back) on five pounds in recent weeks and am in danger of all my new 'slim' clothes not fitting anymore.

trumpton · 18/12/2010 10:51

Ah I have recipe for salted caramel trifle. Basically it's sponge, brandied apricots, salted condensed milk toffee and then double cream.

If I ever get to shops to get food ( order was cancelled here due to weather) then I am making it and then hiding in a cupboard and eating it ALL. Xmas Grin

ChristmasTrolleyRage · 18/12/2010 10:54

Please post recipe trumps.

I am looking for an easy Boxing Day menu.

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 10:55

That sounds like the kind of thing I would make, and then be forced to eat it all, to destroy the evidence that I made it in the first place, but sadly ate two thirds of it before anyone else came home. Grin

I did that with a whole cake once when I was pregnant. I know. It's really not good. This is why I tend not to make puddings or cakes or bread.

BelligerentYhoULE · 18/12/2010 12:17

Trumps - please, please, please post your recipe. I love salted caramel.

Don't fancy the M&S thingies - am often disappointed by M&S cakes which are all sugar over substance imho. Love those Thorntons caramel squares though and could easily polish off a packet in less than ten minutes - and want another one!

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 18/12/2010 12:26

oooh yes to the thornton's squares, yum!

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 14:30

I think if you took them all out of the packaging and laid them in four rows of three they wouldn't be any bigger than one and a half standard squares of caramel shortbread. That's my theory and I shall continue with it.

And yes, hurry up with that recipe - I need a good dessert to supplement Christmas pud!

BelligerentYhoULE · 18/12/2010 14:43

Have just found this

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 14:50

Thank you. I could kiss you. I've just been asking DH what pudding I could make that will be easy and the kids will like but still special and Christmassy. That's perfect!

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 18/12/2010 14:55

Oddly enough I just sat down with a pack of Thornton's caramel shortcakes and MN on the iPad - not a bad way to spend a snowy Saturday afternoon...
I have eaten two in the time it took to read this thread, but I still have enough left to test Fellatio's theory about their combined size.

Of course, once they are out of the packet, I will have to eat them, won't I? Can't just leave them lying around.....

electra · 18/12/2010 15:00

What are dessert sandwiches? I haven't seen these yet.....

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 15:01

If they add to up to more than one and half full sized portions please don't tell me - I prefer to live in fat greedy ignorant bliss.

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 18/12/2010 15:04

OK, so 4 Thornton's mini caramel shortcakes make a 2.5" (6cm) square, which I'd guess is about the size of a standard caramel shortbread square. So a pack would equal 3 standard size, not 1.5.

Sorry about that Fellatio, but if you want to keep your illusions, you can always ask MN to delete this post...

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 18/12/2010 15:04

Oh, sorry x- post there...

mugggletoeandwine · 18/12/2010 15:08

I'm about to make Nigella's devil's food cake.
It's Nigella, I bet it's around 1000 calories a slice.
I don't care, I don't plan on eating any, I think it looked a bit yuck. DD and the takeaway man/my driver will eat it.
I'll just eat kebab instead

FellatioNelson · 18/12/2010 15:08

Angry I wonder if it would be possible to incorporate them into the salted caramel trifle? Perhaps by chilling them to harden the caramel, then putting them in the blender to make crumbs, then sprinkling them on top? Hmmm...
