Absolutely sickened and appalled by what I have just discovered in a pot of Organix baby food

My son loves Organix Fruity Chicken and Wholegrain rice baby meal and has been having it on a regular basis since he was 6 months old. However, today when I opened his lunchtime pot I was horrified to find a large lump of what I hope is chicken, but appears to be some kind of internal organ and not in the best of condition.

I feel absolutely sickened and only hope this entire batch has not been contaminated as this food is supposed to be for babies from 4 months old. My confidence in the company is shattered, I am absolutely appalled. I have emailed them with these images. Now excuse me while I go and throw up.

How would you go about that Shiney? Contact trading standards?

yes, as I said earlier, please don't send it back, because then you have no proof at all that you found it and will probably never find out what it was

ring the FSA, they'll be able to advise. or consumer direct.

I've actually just e-mailed FSA myself to ask whether there are any rules governing what bits of meat can go into baby food.

A bit OT, but Winnybella, never heard of "Plucka na kwasno"? Tis a delightful traditional Polish dish made of lungs. Have never had the urge to try it myself but my husband swears blind it's delicious Hmm. Wouldn't put it in a jar of baby food, though!

Curiousmama · 30/10/2010 09:18

yes you only know what goes in it if you cook it yourself.

I wouldn't return to baby organix if it were me agree send to trading standards. Have you rang them?

winnybella · 30/10/2010 09:29

Grin abeautifulbutterfly- yep, heard about it, never tried. But again, it's something people came up with during harsh years of communism, when often you wouldn't find more than bread and vinegar in shops. Not a very popular dish afaik and I certainly don't know anyone who serves/likes it and I've never seen it on restaurant's menu. But my mum did tell me about a traumatic experience she had with that dish in a bar about 30 years ago.

But I still maintain that lungs and tripe soup is not a traditional Polish dish. I even tried googling it and didn't find any recipes.

Did you send it back op? What happened?

FlopsyTops · 03/11/2010 14:09

quote "Feels like a waste of real food though, so have instead decided to stick it in tonight's chicken casserole for a bit of flavour and texture." quote

The above was OP's last post......
Enough said. Hmm

Or have I missed something? Confused
