Absolutely sickened and appalled by what I have just discovered in a pot of Organix baby food

My son loves Organix Fruity Chicken and Wholegrain rice baby meal and has been having it on a regular basis since he was 6 months old. However, today when I opened his lunchtime pot I was horrified to find a large lump of what I hope is chicken, but appears to be some kind of internal organ and not in the best of condition.

I feel absolutely sickened and only hope this entire batch has not been contaminated as this food is supposed to be for babies from 4 months old. My confidence in the company is shattered, I am absolutely appalled. I have emailed them with these images. Now excuse me while I go and throw up.

There was s story years ago about the same company I think where a woman found something in a jar... turned out to be a turkey throat

I found a WHOLE fish tail in a tin of raviolli last year

Would keep lump and get onto company.

louii · 29/10/2010 15:21

Good god, that is disgusting, at least it is Organic whatever the hell it is Wink

BuntyPenfold · 29/10/2010 15:47

Looks like the crop, I think.

my ex worked for Heinz babyfoods once upon a time; he would never let any in the house.

Maybe all factories are essentially the same.:(

thisisyesterday · 29/10/2010 15:52

that is truly disgusting

i would not only be calling the company themselves but informing the FSA as well

if it is old/manky meat then it shouldn't be anywhere near food

MollygoreR · 29/10/2010 15:57

grim!!

DH just saw my face reading this thread and wanted to see what had caused the reaction

There's a lot to be said for cutting out prosessed food.

HeadFairy · 29/10/2010 16:01

Bleurgh, that's horrible. I'm so glad neither of my dcs liked pre-prepared food, I thought it's because they always taste of burnt sweet potatoes, but maybe they were more canny than I gave them credit for.

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 29/10/2010 16:27

Oh yuk.

DD eats more pots than I'd like. We needed to use them when we went on holiday when she was 7 months old and when we came back, she didn't like my food anymore Sad

We're weaning her back now but she probably has a pot every day or so.

Time to step up the home prepared meals quota again I think!!!

overmydeadbody · 29/10/2010 16:33

Oh god that is disgusting.

Oooh yuk yuk yuk! I'm with you BrideofBlatherstein, have been resorting to pots when out and about (DD wolfs them down) but shall give myself a kick up the bum and get cooking!!

sugarlake · 29/10/2010 16:42

It looks like part of the hen's intestine but the greeny- bleuch stuff looks particularly grim and your child could have choked on it.

Write to them and they might send you a special package to have it returned for analysis.

phipps · 29/10/2010 16:45

Please tell me you didn't feed him any of the jar.

phipps · 29/10/2010 16:46

That looks like a teeth guard [yuk].

thisisyesterday · 29/10/2010 16:57

don't return it to them! it'll "accidentally" get lost Hmm
not that i am cynical or anything

i really would be contacting the food standards agency and asking THEM to test it and work out what it is

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 29/10/2010 16:58

Just been giggling at the "No Junk Promise" on the side of the pot in my cupboard [hgrin]

DD now has homemade Red Lentil and Vegetable bake thanks to this thread

hocuspontas · 29/10/2010 17:07

I think it's just a bit of chicken that escaped the puree machine. To be fair to Organix - they don't actually specify which part of the chicken they put in the meals. These might be the only bits they use. Bleurgh

winnybella · 29/10/2010 17:12

Yes, I very much doubt any baby jars are made with 100% breast fillet. There will most definitely be some fat, gristle and an odd internal organ. I mean they don't taste nice, do they?

FWIW some internal organs are of higher nutritional value than meat Grin

Do Organixs also do pet food? [grim]

moondog · 29/10/2010 18:25

Oh for God's sake it is a bit of meat you silly mare.
Be glad that crap in a pot contains some real food.

winnybella · 29/10/2010 20:00

[grin]@moondog

true, true

at least it wasn't a mouse (see my post up thread)

DTWD · 29/10/2010 21:12

They have been in touch and want me to send it to them. Freepost of course :)

Feels like a waste of real food though, so have instead decided to stick it in tonight's chicken casserole for a bit of flavour and texture.
