And it pees me right off. You write a perfectly innocent comment and people think they can just pounce on you. I've seen it so many times. People say nasty things they'd never say if they were looking in someone's face. They forget that there is actually a HUMAN BEING on the other end of their remarks.

I've been on here long enough to know that that is the way mumsnet works, but it doesn't make it right.

There should be a section for people who just want to have a polite conversation.

I never understand why new mums get so criticised on here for worrying about their children.

Because of m/net and some friends I actually went to my GP as I thought I may have PND (I do worry about DD a lot), my GP smiled (smugly) and said it was completely natural and that she would be more concerned if I was not anxious, precious!! (not GP's word) or controlling.

I really think people need to chill about others peoples parenting styles

I agree. You're posting something relevant to the thread you're on and someone gets all offended for no reason. I was on a thread about parents being disapproving of pg before marriage. All I said was that my parents forget that married men can leave a lady in the lurch just as much as a live-in partner, next thing someone's ranting at me that being married is aperfectly valid choice, her marriage is fine, and that just because a man is married, doesn't mean he will cheat. FFS talk about oversensitive! And try keeping my post in context next time.

I think a lot of people come on to mumsnet because they are peed off wth RL, so will tend to be snappy. They can be narky here rather thatn with their DC's or MIL, DH or who ever.

i am not so sure that what happens on anonymous forum necessarily could be replicated and happen RL.

i imagine most posters would not be so vociferious i think it happens because it is anonymous chat board, bit of pack mentality, someone starts a humphy response the rest pile in

thing is it can be so arbitrary.i have seen people post innoccous comments and get derided and pasted. other times posters can spout the most vaccous shallow indignant tosh (usually about the ole perennials and get away with it)

so the pack mentality and reverting back to argumentative ole mantras is prevalent

I think it very much depends on certain posters.
If a regular and well known MNer gives a strong response to you're thred then everyone else feels like they can jump on the bandwagon.

tbh i dont actually recall MN after i switch off, certainly dont hold MN grudges

i do recognise some posters prolifically post about certain topics, some a bitty over zealous. but hey no biggie

some of us aren't though - I think I have only been rude in response to an unjustified attack. I have had my fair share of rudeness though, so I do get where you're coming from.

a lot of people post the same thing because they hold the same opinion on that topic
