Has now been largely taken over by goad-y, entitled, middle class, right wing, overly opinionated, angry women whose heads are so far up their own arses they don’t even know how to debate with intellectual honesty.

We all know what it can be like here, but it’s gotten increasingly worse. First the transphobia, and now racism and the far right.
Good luck to the people trying to moderate - assuming you actually care or are trying.(Debatable).

This place is poison.

Bye!

@Fullyflavoured why are you force teaming racism with men saying they are women and destroying female boundaries around safety and dignity?

WallaceinAnderland · 13/09/2024 02:22

Oh no, we're womaning wrong again 🙄

marshmallowfinder · 13/09/2024 03:27

I'm sick of all the people who say 'gotten', personally.

So because someone who doesn't agree with the transphobia and racism which is all over this site, that makes them a MRA?

Calling FEMINISTS and WOMENS RIGHTS 'transphobia' is an MRA position. Please don't be a femphobic misogynist bigot.

Irish and Scottish people?

There are many many feminists who are not transphobic. Many of us are more than happy to include transwomen in our feminism.

But how does that work @WickieRoy?

Do you think it fair that transwomen compete in women's sports, for example?

I'm genuinely curious, because I don't understand how you can support everything the trans movement is asking for, while still supporting women. Supporting trans individuals I completely understand, but not to the point where it impacts on the rights of others. I'm curious how you can 'balance' the competing rights if you will.

It's not standard where you are, that's all, but it is elsewhere. MN users come from all over.

Reeeally interesting to read the word tìoraidh, the speculation re ta-ra, the actual pronunciation of tìoraidh and its relationship with the English cheerio.

Thanks to all!

I googled the etymology of ta-ra to see if I could add more info to the thread but it seems to be of unknown origin - except that it is a variant of ta-ta.
I suspect it might just originate in the 'baby talk' version of 'goodbye' or somesuch.

WandsOut · 13/09/2024 11:03

@WickieRoy Women who care about other women won't open up our spaces to men who put on a pair of lace knickers in order to get an erection.

Women who care about other women wouldn't expect or chant for lesbians to accept "girldick"

Women who care about other women would never celebrate teenage girls cutting off their breasts.

Women who care about other women would not want male rapists in women's prisons.

So what exactly are you saying when you are waving your little rainbow flag here? What women are you caring about?

CrochetForLife · 13/09/2024 11:06

WickieRoy · 13/09/2024 06:39

There are many many feminists who are not transphobic. Many of us are more than happy to include transwomen in our feminism.

Transwomen are males who 97% retain their cocks and balls. Feminism does NOT centre males nor these male bodies in women and girls safe single sex spaces. Feminism centres females. If you are still advocating your position and have read about the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre debacle, then you're a fully-fledged Mens Rights Activist.

Well, it's not standard in Britain and Mumsnet is a British site, so I'd expect the majority to speak British English.

Gotten is, in fact, original old English. It is the CORRECT word.

People aren't going to change the way they speak just to post on a British site. That's asking too much!

In any case, gotten never died out in Scotland and Northern Ireland. There is more than one standard of English even within the UK, eg SSE and Hiberno-English as well as the one you're probably more accustomed to.
