I don't think so - it's pronounced cheery and I believe is the English cheerio gaelicised rather than the other way round.

I think it depends which threads you look at. I've seen a lot of right-wing commentary on here, especially over the last week or so - the attitudes of some of the posters on here worry me a little bit.

But I certainly agree with everything else. MN can be a really useful resource, but if you step out of the housekeeping/property boards, you can encounter some really unpleasant people.

I love Gaelic, it makes absolutely bugger all sense to me as a language at all. A PP had a good stab at ta-ra but no, not even close 😂 Should have a better grip of it seeing as it’s such a close neighbour of England. Same with Welsh I suppose. If this was included in the curriculum in schools it’d be a good thing I think…

Re flouncing from real life - you absolutely can! I've plans underway in this regards myself, although it'll probably not be a flounce as such once the decision is made (maybe you could say flouncing to Switzerland, not sure).
