I love the books sooo much but just watched this short clip on youtube here, and it just looks annoying :(

Nothing like how it played out in my head!

And hes just not my Edward! Hes not bad and I still would but I've got the feeling Im going to be sat in the cinema seething at the Hollywood 'extras' and changes they are bound to add!

Maybe Ill just stay at home that night and read the book...again! and catch it on DVD sometime when I wont be 39 weeks pregnant!

He's not my Edward either, but I think the film will be good... cant really go too far wrong with sexy vampires!

LostGirl · 13/11/2008 16:16

Not my Edward either... not even close. Films are always a disappintment though aren't they when you have fallen in love with a character so much

LostGirl · 13/11/2008 16:18

Ooops, reading tha tback it sounds just a little OTT!! I mean when you have enjoyed a book so much and built up strong images of the cast in your head then a film version never comes close.

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 13/11/2008 16:19

Hi fellow Edward!
Now spookily he is my Edward. That's kind of how I imagined him even before I knew Robert Pattinson existed. But, then again, I suppose he's very much my type so I would have imagined him that way!
Uncertain about how I'll feel about the film. Agree it probably won't touch the book. Think it will focus more on the chase part and less on the emerging relationship between Edward and Bella.

LostGirl · 13/11/2008 16:45

I agree, and that's really only a tiny part of the book isn't it? The chase is almost incidental.

I think the film will be fine, as long as you go in with a fairly open mind. I quite like the clips I've seen, even if the actors aren't the ones I might have chosen (I tend to forget when I read, how young they are)

I think it's going to be a bit of a marmite film though, just as the books are. I know a few people who have said they'd rather do almost anything rather than go, whereas me, my sister and my Mum are already planning our 'girls night out' for when it's (finally!) released.

I always pictured him taller too, and sort of dangerous looking!Think I will end up going on my own as the only people I know planning to see the film are teenagers.

45% angsty 14 year old emos and 45% 30+ women, who live alone and collect plates with puppies and kittens on them (and write the filthiest slash ever in their spare time)

We will be part of the remaining 10%

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 13/11/2008 17:31

Perhaps we should run a mnet collective trip to the cinema so we all feel less...sad !

LyraSilver · 13/11/2008 17:40

Do you know me serenity.. good discription!
Seriously, if you are all prepared to travel up to rainy Scotland, collective trip would help to camouflage how sad we are!

Flamesparrow · 13/11/2008 17:47

Go thinking "It is a film". Do NOT go thinking "It is a film of my beloved books".

Mindframe a) will enjoy it, b) will hate it

serenity · 13/11/2008 19:50

TBH after seeing the TV version of the True Blood books, I'm quite optimistic that book adaptations can work in the right hands and shall ignore all the ones that suck beyond all reasonable measures of suckiness

It WILL be good.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 13/11/2008 19:53

he is DEFINATELY my Edward

I too had never heard of Robert Pattinson, he's rather lovely

god, he must be about 20

serenity · 13/11/2008 19:57

Slightly older, he's 22 not quite as bad.

I have to say, at the moment he does nothing for me - I shall probably reevaluate that opinion after I see the film.

Flamesparrow · 13/11/2008 20:15

he is just cedric

ShowOfHands · 27/11/2008 14:22

Are these books really worth it? Can you compare them to something? Vampires, yes? Anne Rice esque?

Tortington · 27/11/2008 14:23

no, i agree, from what i have seen, he is NOT the beautiful edward you all fell in love with.

thank god i love jacob is all i can say.

PersonalClown · 04/12/2008 13:10

I blame you lot entirely!!

I have become addicted to the books and seen the film 4 times so far.
(If you are nice to me..I'll give you the website to watch it!!)

psychohohohoho · 04/12/2008 13:13

I am going to enjoy the film regardless....simply because I have to going on the fighting I am having with DH about it all!

I am going on the 19th, I have told DH LOTS OF TIMES, but he claims otherwise and that I am ruining his proposed day out with his work mates to golf!

I AM GOING TO LOVE IT
