I love the books sooo much but just watched this short clip on youtube here, and it just looks annoying :(

Nothing like how it played out in my head!

And hes just not my Edward! Hes not bad and I still would but I've got the feeling Im going to be sat in the cinema seething at the Hollywood 'extras' and changes they are bound to add!

Maybe Ill just stay at home that night and read the book...again! and catch it on DVD sometime when I wont be 39 weeks pregnant!

Oh it is good Psycho! I swoon at some good bits... and I'm not a swooner by any means!

psychohohohoho · 04/12/2008 13:29

I am at just the thought, so goodness knows how much I will at the film.

I don;t think I will embarrass myself tho......I am certain that there will be a LOT of going on from the other women

bea · 09/12/2008 22:59

ooo! i'm looking forward to the film as he is soooo my Edward... but also i found the novels so much full of fluff... (sorry! to all you twilight lovers... ) i'm hoping that the film cuts to the chase and we don't have endless marvels at his marble smooth skin and how delicate bella is!!!!

bea · 09/12/2008 23:00

... and i have to admit that buffy did the whole vampire/human love thing so much better and wittier too!

LyraSilver · 13/12/2008 22:32

Agree with bea, Buffy/Angel/Spike... can't get better than that! I too hope the film gives us loads of action and doesnt dwell too much on the swooning!

PoinsettiasScareMe · 20/12/2008 00:16

I am oddly attracted to James

psychohohohoho · 20/12/2008 00:23

oh no.....tis carlisle for me now.

altho sue seems to think it is because of my odd attraction to doctors....!!!

conclusion for us....

edward = pretty
james = bad boy
carlise = scrummy doctor
jacob = just as I pictured him

I'm going to have to buy these fucking books as soon as mine on amazon sell simply because my damn niece has read them all and I want to be up to speed when I chat to her.

Saw the film last week with my 12 year old niece. We both really enjoyed it. Of course, she now has a big crush on Edward. I read Twilight before the film came out, and am now right near the end of New Moon. Think I will pass the books on to my niece when I'm done with them.

However, I am not sure I will be able to read the other books in the series as I absolutely cannot stand Bella!!!! She is just so friggin irritating its unbelievable. I can't remember another occassion when I have disliked the main character so much.

I like the other characters, especially Jacob, but Bella is awful. She wasn't as irritating in the film, so am hopeful that I will be able to watch the films without wanting to scream!

I was thinking that maybe its because I'm in my 30's now, so that might be why I am having trouble with her. Maybe if I was still the silly teenager that I used to be, I would be ok.

Anyway, like I said, I liked the film. Especially the scenery and cinematography. And I thought the cast in general were very good, although I thought the Vampire make-up was slightly dodgy. Carlisle looked like he was from some New Romantic band from the 80's!

EdwardCullenCanBiteMe · 14/01/2009 12:53

I started reading these books over 4 years agoand had no idea Robert Pattinson even existed, but he is EXACTLY my Edward. I actually think he was not born, but designed purely to fulfill my Edward fantasies.......of which there are many evil laugh

LostGirl · 17/01/2009 22:33

No, dreadful casting, not my Edward at all!

DeathByMonkey · 18/01/2009 08:50

Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it (have also read the book and loved that.) Some of the casting was spot on : Edward (criminally sexy and young, dammit!) Bella, not too annoying or swoony, Jacob, Alice and the Baddies were all quite good. Didn't think much of Rosalie; she's meant to be breathtaking and this girl just wasn't, and Jasper was just bizarre.

A couple of bits were unintentionally hilarious, like Edward scooting up the tree like the world's best-looking squirrel, and even though it was slow I wish there had been more, I don't know, yearning between Edward and Bella. I did like the baseball and chase bit, thought they were really well done even though they're not my favourite bits in the book.

Looking forward to the next one - it's going to have a different director, so will be interesting to see how they do it differently.

TheLorax · 25/01/2009 21:31

Just saw this yesterday with ds1 and his friends and loved it! And thank you to whoever pointed out that RP was Cedric Diggory. I was sitting there for the whole movie trying to figure out where I had seen him before!

gallusbesom · 01/02/2009 14:50

I think it is always hard to watch films which have been made from books you love however I have watched the film twice now and although it is the same story they are just a nice sidetrack to the characters who are in my head.

My Edward is similar to RP (especially in the scene where his hair is all quiffed up and he has his shades on when walking with him arm around Bella into school), my Emmett is much more muscle bound than the film Emmett too.

Its a good movie to watch but doesn't match up the books but had good fun the second time watching trying to find all the in-jokes for the people who have read the books - Prom scene Edward to Bella after she has spoke to Jacob "I leave you alone for one minute and the wolves decend"
