Just watched Dante's Peak which wasn't bad but wouldn't be in my top 5.

Off the top of my head I think my favourites are:
The Towering Inferno
Titanic

Towering Inferno was great.

Day After Tomorrow was good.

Sidge · 27/07/2008 21:55

Armageddon.

taipo · 27/07/2008 22:01

Armegeddon was great. Much better than the other asteroid film that came out about the same time. Can't remember what it was called though.

Towering |nferno, probably because I saw it on holiday at the cinema when I was about 10 and it seemed AMAZING!!

InLoveWithSweeneyTodd · 31/07/2008 16:28

I prefer epidemics disaster movies - "the cassandra crossing" style

Twinkie1 · 31/07/2008 16:29

Towering Inferno - Classic!

donnie · 31/07/2008 16:31

The day after tomorrow and Titanic - love em both!

ImnotOK · 31/07/2008 16:32

Titanic

Deep Imapct (far better than armageddon (IMHO)

Independance day

donnie · 31/07/2008 16:37

towering inferno also v. good.

The Poseidin adventure - now that's a classic.

bran · 31/07/2008 16:42

I like Space Cowboys (I think it just about qualifies as a disaster movie)

I really love those 'disaster' documentaries about future mega-tsunamis and super-volcanos.

I hated Titanic

I quite like the one with Dustin Hoffman and the infected monkeys, it's called Outbreak I think

francagoestohollywood · 31/07/2008 16:48

I loved Cassandra crossing!!!

francagoestohollywood · 31/07/2008 16:50

The poseidon adventure and Avalanche, with rock hudson.

bobblehat · 31/07/2008 16:52

Dunno if tougue in cheek ones count, but Airplane is a classic

TheMagnificent7 · 31/07/2008 22:11

Maybe not in this order but :

Independence Day
Armageddon
Towering Inferno
Poseidon Adventure (and please, I mean the original)
Earthquake

Armageddon never fails to make me cry

georgimama · 31/07/2008 22:12

Towering Inferno definitely

Titanic is just a rip off of A Night to Remember, except for the fetus and Kate bits. There are entire sequences which are directly copied, even the old people on the bed bit.

southeastastra · 31/07/2008 22:13

most hilarious is the really old titanic film 'atlantic' very slow moving but hilarious

MingMingtheWonderPet · 31/07/2008 22:15

Independence day
Towering inferno
Poseiden Adventure

Did not like the recent War of the Worlds - terrible

Quite liked 'I am Legend' - does that count?

Forgot about Twister - Loved that.

I am Legend is a remake of the Omega Man with Charlton Heston, but is much much closer to the book I Am Legend which is superb

I think I'd go for Towering Inferno as the Number 1

TheMagnificent7 · 31/07/2008 22:44

Califrau, I think that's a whole different movie

lilolilmanchester · 31/07/2008 22:46

Poseidon Adventure definitely had the biggest impact on me first time I saw it (when I was about 10)
