Just watched Dante's Peak which wasn't bad but wouldn't be in my top 5.

Off the top of my head I think my favourites are:
The Towering Inferno
Titanic

I thought Towering Inferno when I saw the title. Nothing else compares.

Oh I agree with Towering INferno!

Also Poseidon Adventure - especially the bit near the start where they have to climb up the upside down Christmas tree!

Oh and when they have to swim under water - oooh, dead scary!

Poseidon Adventure definitely had the biggest impact on me first time I saw it (when I was about 10)

Califrau, I think that's a whole different movie

Forgot about Twister - Loved that.

I am Legend is a remake of the Omega Man with Charlton Heston, but is much much closer to the book I Am Legend which is superb

I think I'd go for Towering Inferno as the Number 1

Independence day
Towering inferno
Poseiden Adventure

Did not like the recent War of the Worlds - terrible

Quite liked 'I am Legend' - does that count?

most hilarious is the really old titanic film 'atlantic' very slow moving but hilarious

Report
georgimama · 31/07/2008 22:12

Towering Inferno definitely

Titanic is just a rip off of A Night to Remember, except for the fetus and Kate bits. There are entire sequences which are directly copied, even the old people on the bed bit.

Maybe not in this order but :

Independence Day
Armageddon
Towering Inferno
Poseidon Adventure (and please, I mean the original)
Earthquake

Armageddon never fails to make me cry

I loved Cassandra crossing!!!

I like Space Cowboys (I think it just about qualifies as a disaster movie)

I really love those 'disaster' documentaries about future mega-tsunamis and super-volcanos.

I hated Titanic

I quite like the one with Dustin Hoffman and the infected monkeys, it's called Outbreak I think
