Just watched this. Amazing on a big screen. It is just footage plus clips from interviews but it’s really well done.
what a beautiful man but also how tragic.

I absolutely loved it and cried too @flowerfairydaisy
It's not the 1968 special- though that is a wonder in its own right, what with the sexy black leather and all <swoons>
The new film is later ... more white jumpsuits territory. I might go and see it again actually. The bit at the very end where he leaves the concert looking completely wiped out and gives the camera a look from the lift... omg

The Lisa Marie autobiography (with her daughter Riley) is also heartbreaking - hard recommend if you're a fan

Yes the end in the lift 😥. He was so badly used, but what a wonderful talent.

I went to see this on my own Monday afternoon as I’m retired and there were 10 people total in the cinema. When it finished half of them clapped. I haven’t seen that in a cinema for years. It was as everyone has said fabulous.

That happened to me too on Monday! Are you in Yorkshire by any chance!

By the way everyone, the 68 comeback special is still on BBC Iplayer

The Lisa Marie book is 99p on Kindle atm. Its a good read.

Tourmalines · 05/03/2026 08:47

Saw it , loved it . I’ve loved him forever . He was so special and unique. I remember he said to Priscilla Presley that he thinks people might forget him one day ,well, Elvis , you sure got that wrong . ❤️

Oldandcobwebby · 05/03/2026 09:05

I was so looking forward to seeing EPiC in IMAX, but I'm stuck in hospital. Arrgh! My wife and daughter went to see it on Sunday. Both of them sobbed at just how bloody awesome Elvis was.

Cocolapew · 05/03/2026 13:37

Get well soon!

soupmaker · 05/03/2026 22:40

Loved this tonight. What a band. We saw James Burton play with Jerry Lee Lewis back in 2015. First time for me to see something in an IMAX, it made you feel like you were at the gig. The sound was amazing. It was so emotional, which surprised me, but it was hearing Elvis’ own voiceover which got me.

TofuTuesday · 05/03/2026 23:18

Get well soon @Oldandcobwebby

we saw it in an iMax too, wish I’d seen it in cinema X where it goes three sides , think that would have been amazing

I went to see EPiC for a third time as it came back to iMAX. Absolutely loved it again!

badgersbadgerseverywhere · 16/03/2026 16:58

I’ve seen it twice on an Odeon Maxx screen (big screen) and it was an incredible immersive experience. I cried both times and had goosebumps from start to finish. I wouldn’t even have described myself as a fan before and went more for DH, but my god I’m a fan now. What an incredibly magnetic performer he was, what a beautiful, hypnotic man. What talent and voice. I can’t imagine how it would have felt to actually have seen him in the flesh. To have been one of the women receiving a kiss in the crowd!

Ive been listening to the soundtrack album ever since which is fantastic. As in the film however I could do without Bono’s self indulgent, pretentious, irrelevant monologue.

I can recommend That’s The Way It Was on Prime (similar performance and backstage footage of the same period), and Elvis Presley The Dreamer also on Prime, which is more the story of his life and influences. Both fascinating.

TofuTuesday · 16/03/2026 21:21

Oh thank you for the recommendations they sound interesting. I agree how amazing must it have been to be next to him, or watching him in the flesh.

It was a wonderful film, like others I felt teary at some of the bits, especially when Elvis said he would love to visit Europe. What a waste, what a loss to music.
I echo the reading of the Lisa Marie and Riley book.
This film is a brilliant tribute to a beautiful, talented man. Highly recommended

Cocolapew · 18/03/2026 16:50

He wasn't shy about kissing his fans was he? 😁

Genuine question - with a lot of famous men now being cancelled for sleeping with underage girls, Elvis seems to avoid criticism despite dating a 14 yo. Why is that?

He does get criticised.

MN is one of those places where men who date younger women are vilified and yet, judging by this thread, he was a wonderful man and we can ignore his underage girlfriend. 🤔

Lavenderandbrown · 21/03/2026 02:58

I too so enjoyed EPIC. The drummer Ronnie Tutt was so talented and I felt myself watching his response to Elvis. It seemed the singers often watched Elvis to see
how long how strong a song would go. Elvis was the conductor. Also ahead of time with his racially diverse singers.

I’m not sure they are tbh. Bowies just been in the news again for Labyrinth anniversary despite his history with groupies. The only fall out from Epstein has been Prince Andrew.
regardless, Elvis was a really multi layered story and his relationship with Priscilla was a murky, weird part of that. He didn’t have sex with her until she was old enough (legally) , and then lost all interest once she had the baby. Very weird. It’s a sad story of so much talent, a new era of music, and such a waste in the end.
