Just watched this. Amazing on a big screen. It is just footage plus clips from interviews but it’s really well done.
what a beautiful man but also how tragic.

I fancy this. Love Elvis.

It was really good, there’s some teeny stuff worth waiting for at the credits

SonsRfab · 23/02/2026 20:19

Thanks I'll stay until after the credits.

Clickncollect · 23/02/2026 20:23

I saw it an iMax cinema on Sunday with my sister and we loved it! We’re huge Elvis fans in our family.

TofuTuesday · 24/02/2026 06:46

I really liked the idea of it being told in his voice, and the choice of music over certain clips

Saw it last weekend, loved it!

Going again this weekend.

Loved when they were playing Devil in Disguise and as Elvis sang You're the Devil in Disguise, the camera went onto Col Tom Parker 😅

Intentional? You bet it was 😅

SonsRfab · 27/02/2026 08:34

It's on at our local cinema. I'm going next week with the Meerkat code.

TofuTuesday · 27/02/2026 20:19

@Goldenboysmum yes i loved that, and ‘always on my mind’ for Lisa Marie. So tragic the generations and all that trauma and early loss.
I remember learning the colonel made him do all the Hollywood films he didn’t want to do but I didn’t realise quite how awful he was

Goldenboysmum · 27/02/2026 23:49

@TofuTuesday yes horrible man!

I was 13 when Elvis died and didn't know much about the Col, but with Internet now I was quite shocked to find out how bad he was!

Cocolapew · 27/02/2026 23:53

I saw it this afternoon, amazing, made me a bit teary.

Silverbirchleaf · 28/02/2026 00:00

There was a really interesting interview recently between Scott Mills and Buz Lurhman on Radio 2 on how he put the film together, discovering lost tapes etc. It was fascinating

I'll probably be teary when I go next week. Such a waste. He must have been so unhappy to abuse his body like that. He'd been so fit with the karate.

Dfg15 · 28/02/2026 14:11

Im going tomorrow, so excited 😊

SPOILER ALERT-PLEASE DON’T READ MY POST IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS

After seeing it last weekend at an iMax cinema, I just went to see it for a second time at a regular cinema. I just loved it!

The way the band watch Elvis all the time and how he basically conducts his own concerts
The look of awe that Elvis gives JD Sumner (the singer with the very low voice) during How Great Thou Art
The shaking of JD Sumner’s his head in disbelief of the brilliance of Elvis singing Bridge over troubled water
Polk Salad Annie was never a favourite of mine but the sequence in the film is superb where Elvis is giving it absolute welly!!!
Lisa Marie ❤️
Elvis when he looks back during ‘loved on look’ - swoon!
Suspicious Minds!!!!!! One of my top 3 fave songs ever
When he says he would like to visit Britain ‘very much’ 😭
Behind the scenes footage when he is talking to Sammy Davis Jr and chilling in the car
The charisma!! The send of humour

I always feel so sad after any Elvis films/programmes as it’s tragis that he died so young and also I was brought up on Elvis as my Dad was such a huge fan when he was alive. His funeral songs were Any Day Now, American Trilogy, If I Can Dream, Burning Love with hymns of How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace as Elvis covered both.

TofuTuesday · 02/03/2026 06:40

@Clickncollect all of that ❤️

I love anything with Elvis in. I was 16 when he died and had a massive crush on him and had a full length poster in my room.

A few years ago DH and I went to a concert at the O2, we were early and there was an exhibition of Elvis memorabilia and DH wasn’t keen on spending £25 each, but I said there’s no way I’m missing out, so we saw many of his costumes (so elaborate and dare I say sexy) to know he’d actually worn them. There was a few cars and personal other items. DH and I just sat watching the screen and listening to his music, we were so happy we went and will always cherish seeing this. Must get to see this film.

FairViewRosie25 · 02/03/2026 20:42

It was Baz Lurhmann of course it was.
i have always liked Elvis’s music but until watching the film today didn’t really get the whole thing. Today I did. What an amazing performer and such a beautiful man.

TofuTuesday · 03/03/2026 17:28

Baz Luhrman is fab, I love everything he has ever done

Is it the tight black leather live on TV concert thing?

I always remember my mum telling me what a massive event that concert broadcast was and how everyone was talking about it at the time.

Always remember her saying that he was stitched into the leather outfit (true or not? No idea but it looks tight!).

Oldraver · 03/03/2026 18:00

My second cousin saw him in Vegas (she is American) and was mightily pissed off the woman next to her grabbed his scarf 😅

I saw it this afternoon, amazing, made me a bit teary.

Me too! I also had to stop myself clapping at the end of some songs

Smallinthesmoke · 03/03/2026 22:13

I absolutely loved it and cried too @flowerfairydaisy
It's not the 1968 special- though that is a wonder in its own right, what with the sexy black leather and all <swoons>
The new film is later ... more white jumpsuits territory. I might go and see it again actually. The bit at the very end where he leaves the concert looking completely wiped out and gives the camera a look from the lift... omg

The Lisa Marie autobiography (with her daughter Riley) is also heartbreaking - hard recommend if you're a fan

I clapped at the end, and I was on my own 😁

Thank you, I need to watch it!
