Yes I thought it was well done.

Saw it this evening, it's codswallop and terrific fun - I recommend it!

It's in the same category as M3GHAN imo, it rehashes things you've seen before and serves it up afresh, with some knowingness.

Best you go in cold however as there are unexpected plot developments that are part of the fun. It's not a serious movie exactly.

I’ve just finished the book and loved it. Does it follow the book exactly?
Have you watched the series Devious housemaids? That’s really great too.

I thought it was very similar to the book, in a way I would have loved to see the film without knowing all the twists and turns.

I enjoyed it. It was so much better than it looked from the trailer. It’s true to the book if I recall correctly and very well done.

Giveitsomewelly · 01/01/2026 10:13

Is it scary? I’m easily disturbed! 😧

OliviaBonas · 02/01/2026 10:39

I don’t like scary things either but this was ok. I have read the book so I knew what to expect. I found the ending gory so I looked away!

NutellaEllaElla · 02/01/2026 10:40

We really enjoyed it! Thought the book was ok.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 04/01/2026 20:01

Not read the book but really enjoyed it! Felt Amanda didnt very well considering all the films I've seen her in shes been sort of ditsy girly girly but amazing performance. The tooth urghh

SquadGoals75 · 04/01/2026 21:00

Loved it!! I might see it again.

ChaChingCherry · 05/01/2026 16:49

I watched this last week at our local cinema. The screening was full. Mostly women but a couple of blokes had been dragged along. I enjoyed it way more than i thought I would. I always listen to Mark Kermodes reviews before I see a film and he wasn't overly complimentary about it. However I loved how she (Sydney S) turned the tables on the handsome hubby, hurrah!

TheaBrandt1 · 06/01/2026 00:02

Ooh we liked it! Great feminist slant! Good fun especially for older teen girls. Ends with a Taylor Swift song!

Reminiscent of those 90s thrillers like sleeping with the enemy etc

TurquoiseDress · 21/01/2026 15:24

I’ve seen it, quite enjoyed it, pretty bonkers at times!

not read the book

TeaRoseTallulah · 21/01/2026 15:27

I found the book overly violent,is the film the same?

NewspaperTaxis · 21/01/2026 15:29

Most of the violence is offscreen or is verbal bullying, but towards the end it gets quite nasty and sadistic, in one scene in particular.

molifly · 21/01/2026 15:31

I thought it was very different to the book. Onzo didn't have any character development which in the book he does and the second half was changed also. It wasn't bad just wasn't similar to the book at all.

2026ontheway · 21/01/2026 15:33

I really loved Amanda seyfried

Oopsylazy · 21/01/2026 15:37

I haven’t read the book but watched the film and enjoyed it. A lot of it was unbearably cheesy and predictable but I still thought it was the best film I’d seen in a while and I think both the actresses are great but especially Amanda Seyfried.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Sydney Sweeney bc I saw her in “Eden” and thought she was very good in it and the scene where she gives birth was astounding - The most realistic I’ve ever seen and I found it quite moving.

Me too, haven't seen it yet but hoping it's still on next weekend and I will go.

NewspaperTaxis · 26/01/2026 11:46

It's not so much scary, it has a pantomime villain feel to it for much of the time, the audience enters into the spirit of things.

It must be good because it's been on a month at my local and a paper sign had to go up to warn under-15s not to try to get in - anything that tempts teens back into the cinema gets my vote!

TeaRoseTallulah · 26/01/2026 14:57

OliviaBonas · 22/01/2026 13:23

Yes!

Oh shit, going to see it with a friend who can't watch anything vaguely violent. I'll have to bring her cushion to hide behind!

TheaBrandt1 · 26/01/2026 15:12

Its really quite violent so may not be a good choice for her

LesLavandes · 26/01/2026 15:25

Where did you watch it? I haven’t been able to find it
