What's your most cringeworthy film? Dh recently bought a v cheap dvd of Neil Diamond's the Jazz Singer. I knew when it came out that it was a bad movie but omg, when I saw it again, it's so terrible, I had to hide behind the sofa!!! Good sound track, though....

ooh, I have just remembered a film that made me want to heave (as opposed to just leave). Peter's Friends. Smug, smug, smug. Or, in the words of an earlier poster, KILL ME, KILL ME NOW

Molesworth · 30/05/2008 00:23

I'm with you all on Richard Curtis.

I thought Closer was appalling - probably owing to the presence of Jude Law, but they were all such hateful, smug characters.

choosyfloosy · 30/05/2008 00:39

Ah, now Mworth, I don't go with you there. i agree the characters in Closer are vile, but they were at least interesting, and said stuff that sounded like it might have been said by human beings.

wuzzlefraggle · 01/06/2008 19:35

One of the films that make me cringe is CatWoman....no...just no...

I thought it was good the first time I saw it, then about a year later, watched it again and saw the light.

A Chorus Line. Michael Douglas dancing in a dressing gown. Nuff said.

X Men 3. I'll always hold a little cold place in my heart for Bryan Singer, after he fucked off to make that shite Superman remake and left the final X Men film in the hands of an amateur.

Pretty much anything with the loathsome Tom Cruise.

maidamess · 15/06/2008 15:22

Oh god I happened upon The Blue Lagoon the other night! Gadzooks!

KatieScarlett2833 · 15/06/2008 15:27

Showgirls. Why lord????

cyteen · 15/06/2008 15:44

The thing that pisses me off most about Showgirls is that it's SO bad, it's enjoyably cheesy - until that completely unnecessary and gratuitously nasty gang rape sequence. Way to ruin even what crappy atmosphere you've created, Verhoeven

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 15:49

Notting Hill really was awful
i made a vow not to see any more Richard Curtis after that so I missed the horror of Love Actually

Brother Where Art Thou is brilliant!

fawkeoff · 15/06/2008 16:10

cyteen · 15/06/2008 17:08

Rita, Sue and Bob Too is one of my favourite films ever. I was just reminiscing the other day about the first time I saw it - my best friend and I had stayed up late and randomly watched it on tv, aged about 12 - totally gobsmacked and pissing ourselves laughing I'd never seen such a British film before.

"Make your own fucking tea", classic

SummatAndNowt · 15/06/2008 17:28

Ah, Rita, Sue and Bob Too! FAB! But then I grew up on a Bradford council estate!

PollyFlinders · 16/06/2008 00:25

Anything with Demi Moore in.

RosaLuxembunting · 16/06/2008 00:39

We watched 42nd Street at the weekend as my children are so fond of musical theatre. Made in 1933 and a U certificate, how could you go wrong, right?
Wrong! It was an innuendo-ridden smutfest of epic proportions. DH and I were practically falling off the sofa trying to stifle our giggles at the sheer unintended horror of the whole thing.
The cameramen didn't miss a single opportunity for an upskirt shot and most of the dialogue was spoken through a drunken slur.
The children quite liked it though.

pollywobbledoodle · 16/06/2008 00:57

ai no corrida..i was young,it was rude and the door i tried to leave by was locked,so i had to cross the cinema and i heard a bloke say "bet she's off for a w*nk"

MrsSprat · 16/06/2008 01:37
