What's your most cringeworthy film? Dh recently bought a v cheap dvd of Neil Diamond's the Jazz Singer. I knew when it came out that it was a bad movie but omg, when I saw it again, it's so terrible, I had to hide behind the sofa!!! Good sound track, though....

queen2shoes · 25/05/2008 22:28

or some title like that. omg it was dire

PuppyMonkey · 25/05/2008 22:34

Ooh iloved O Brother Where Art Thou... Dapper Dan...

Anyway, I nominate Charlie's Angels (the movie, not the Tv show).

What a croc of shite...

windygalestoday · 25/05/2008 22:34

queen2shoes · 25/05/2008 22:35

charlies angels was utter drivel

suedonim · 25/05/2008 23:44

Lol at these esp Marina's traumatised dh. I got car sick in Fatal Attraction at that bit where she's driving down the Pacific Highway or wherever it is in California.

I have an unopened dvd of Sliding Doors - shall I, shall I???

No one's mentioned Robin Hood Prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery(although I wouldn't chuck Alan Rickman out of my castle! ).

francagoestohollywood · 26/05/2008 08:51

step away from that unopened dvd suedonim.

thanks servalan, fatal attraction it was.

Also agree with Robin Hood. And king Arthur, the one with richard gere.

I'm pretty sure my list is actually very long, but of course my memory's gone.

Any french movie where they need to use a public phone and they struggle to get the change out of their pockets, and they go "merde"

castlesintheair · 26/05/2008 08:59

Rita Sue and Bob too is sheer class IMO

Pearl Harbour is agonising. And Titanic.

francagoestohollywood · 26/05/2008 09:03

Pearl Harbour, yes yes! It put me off ben affleck forever, I think

MrsTittleMouse · 26/05/2008 09:32

Oh yes, I'd forgotten Love Actually. Bleugh. That wedding scene with all the musicians popping up. Makes my skin crawl just thinking of it.

And another vote for Robin Williams as the least funny, most self-congratulatory "actor" known to man.

TotalChaos · 26/05/2008 09:40

another vote for love actually. so many pass the sick bucket moments. Have to confess though that the Talented Mr Ripley is one of my favourite films!!! I'd read the book it was based on first though, so that makes a difference that I knew what to expect.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 26/05/2008 09:40

Windygales - How very dare you - 'Rita, Sue...' is a Classic! I was raised in West Yorkshire and totally recognised the characters (despite the extreme situations).

The very worst film in existence has to be 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad' unfortunately it is ds' favourite.

itwasntme · 26/05/2008 09:46

Anything with mr bean.

Why? why? why?

It's just not funny.

Independence day is also unbelievably awful.

madamez · 26/05/2008 10:48

RObin Hood Prince of Theives is hysterically funny though: 'Tonight we shall celebrate at my father's castle'. They are going to walk from dover to notthingham in a single afternoon?

ALMummy · 26/05/2008 12:51

Oh anything with Kevin Costner. They are not really telling any stories are they. It is just Kevin Costner prancing about getting to live out his fantasies and getting paid millions for it. Absolute tosh, all of them.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 26/05/2008 13:52

Aha! too close for comfort Windygales

I have found plenty of southern versions as well

suedonim · 26/05/2008 21:11

So many bad films, so little time!

Smoking Aces has got to be the most dire waste of nearly 2 hours. Thomas and the Magic Railroad comes in a close second- when it was released I worked as a cinema usher and had to sit in the screen each showing because of the age of the audience. Oh Gods, the memory.

yup, 'Rita, Sue..' is a classic!

this is what the 80s really looked like people, not that trendy version you are all rocking these days!

Tetsuo II - Iron Man is the only film I've actually gone to sleep in the cinema at from sheer mixed misery and boredom.

Ooh, Prospero's Books! 5 mins heaven, 85 mins of acute awareness of life slipping away, second by second. Funny though, I bought and loved the soundtrack.

Notting Hill. Now what gets me is reading some tosh from Julia R that it was the best script she'd ever read. Surely she mixed it up with a wine label. 'I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.' KILL ME. KILL ME NOW.

ButterflyMcQueen · 30/05/2008 00:13

RITA sue is the antithesis of cringeworthy

(I cant help bein' a paki) and i quote !

ButterflyMcQueen · 30/05/2008 00:15

also ' you took yer f'in time!'
