No, I think some decent enough ‘serious’ actors can’t do comedy. Eg Timothy Dalton just couldn’t pull off the bad jokes in his James Bond films.

Tamsin Greig in Sexy Beast (the series) is absolutely phenomenal, she is terrifying. I was so lost in her performance I couldn’t see the actor, literally unrecognisable from any of her comedic roles.
