In the same film if it's a Martin McDonough.

Monica Dolan - should be more known than she is imo

She's very good, isn't she?

Definitely Robin Williams, he gave so much to every role.

Definitely not Robert de Niro. He was absolutely shite in Meet the Fochers but then it was a shite film so I think he was just going through the motions tbh.

Hugh Grant is an excellent actor in both light hearted and serious films.

Also, Emma Thompson. She is a bit like HG in that she can absolutely play the part well and has massive talent that she puts forward to whatever part she plays.

Although, I do think, like with HG and ET, they are quite astute in only accepting good roles, most of the time.

De Niro is great in Midnight Run though, one of my favourite films ever.

Daniel Craig. He’s just hamming it up in Glass Onion. Hugh Grant has a cameo as well.

I immediately thought of John Lithgow too. He was absolutely hilarious in Third Rock from the Sun and completely sombre in The Crown. In fact, he’s brilliant in everything he does.

boobot1 · 20/06/2025 23:10

Johnny Depp

Jason Statham. He was incredibly funny in ‘spy’

Rory Kinnear. Just been watching some episodes of Count Arthur Strong and realised how good he is. I last saw him as a really nasty character in a drama series.

Chilling in Endeavor

Has Hugh Grant ever played role other than Hugh Grant?

Yes. And it’s not just the more recent roles various posters have mentioned - at about the same time as 4 weddings he was very different in ‘An Awfully Big Adventure’.

This. Philomena was absolutely brilliant but heartbreaking.

@MyCheeryPearlTraybake he's a brilliant comic actor but I can't actually think of Rowan Atkinson in any serious roles?

Yes, I want to know what role(s) the OP is thinking of.
