It's one of the worst films I've ever seen.

I've not seen the stage show.

All the characters are horrible & one dimensional. Even the green one - she's the most likeable & developed character & they still managed to make her flat & boring.

They threw all the CGI possible at it and it left me feeling very empty. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Glinda is awful. Absolutely awful but we are meant to like her cause of all the rich blond & pink. Dreadful.

The costumes were fabulous though gotta hand them that. Probably an Oscar for costumes.

I feel empty & sad after seeing that film.

My daughters loved it. They now think I'm the worst.

i Found it needed editing. Far too long. And the scenes could just be shorter. My kids enjoyed it though and presumably it’s for children?

VictoriaSpungecake · 01/12/2024 19:54

Ok, I know I am overthinking this, but I do not believe that the whole world would be prejudiced against one person because they have green skin. Prejudice against black or asian skin has historical political foundations festered by enslavement and colonialism.

VictoriaSpungecake · 01/12/2024 19:57

This thread should be renamed as a support group for people who hated the film Wicked because we need a safe space to vent. Not liking this film has serious consequences as you will be shunned by your family and friends who are obsessed with it. I wish I was joking.

Everythingaches · 01/12/2024 22:42

I’ve now seen it three times.

especially as the entire culture & society, lead by the Wizard, seem to worship green.

I am so grateful for this post because I really didn't like it. I started off thinking I would enjoy it (never seen the stage version) but I ended up really hating it. I too loved the costumes and the design and hope they do get an Oscar for that, but the whole story left me absolutely cold.

I am in the doghouse because the people I went with adored it and I feel like Scrooge or something. They were going off on a Christmas jaunt today and have left me out. I feel genuinely bad and wish I had pretended to like it.

Sorry you were shunned by your "friends" - clearly they don't see the irony in their behaviour towards you by leaving you out for being different. Maybe they aren't such big fans of Wicked afterall?

Haha! I didn't think of that. It's true!

ThatsNotMyTeen · 04/12/2024 21:40

I went to see it yesterday, haven’t seen the musical. I was expecting to find it meh to be honest. I thought it was brilliant! Really enjoyed it.

pooballs · 04/12/2024 23:54

I loved it!

I first saw Wicked on the west end over 15 years ago as a teen and was a big fan.

I thought they adapted it really well and it was visually stunning. The leads were amazing.

Nettleteaser101 · 05/12/2024 08:14

Ive just seen it. It is just like Barbie so overhyped and I didnt like any of the songs they sounded a bit rushed to me. The prince, out of the Ton, how old are these people supposed to be?.
Loved the sorceress's wig though, thats all I can say about it really.

SirChenjins · 05/12/2024 08:19

I'm tempted to see it but after seeing all the crazy interviews the 2 lead characters have been given I'm not sure I want to. They seem quite affected by the whole thing - makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes.

purpleme12 · 05/12/2024 08:46

The interviews are just so over the top fawning over each other. Too much to me.

I'm sure it's nothing new. Happens when other films come out but does seem even more the case with this one

xsquared · 05/12/2024 15:52

Where are people seeing these so called weird interviews with the lead actors? Yes, I know they are on YouTube, Insta and FB amd all over social media, but unless you're looking for it and choosing to watch them, then it can't really be "everywhere" and OTT.

As they are playing best friends in the film, the it doesn't surprise me that they will be behaving as such when promoting the film.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 05/12/2024 16:50

@xsquared I am certainly not looking for interviews or photos of these 2 but they’re all over my FB. Also, if you watch one, or even click on it by accident, social media algorithms decide you want to see everything about it. I don’t want to see them at all because they’re extremely triggering but I can’t get rid of them!

They are all over Facebook and Instagram - and they’re now being parodied so they are also appearing on my feeds. I can assure you I didn’t go looking for them! I think I watched one after DD told me about it and showed me one, and now there they are.

Have you seen the interviews we’re talking about? They are very odd - not the kind of jokey best friend/friend type thing at all.

Edited

No which is why I'm curious what people are talking about. Anything I've seen has been mostly about BTS stuff.

SirChenjins · 05/12/2024 18:18

What’s BTS?

I would suggest watching it one but it’ll just bring the interviews and the parodies up on your social media and you’ll wonder what on earth you’re watching. If either of them were my daughter I’d be really worried.

Needmorelego · 05/12/2024 18:40

@SirChenjins BTS = Behind The Scenes.

Everythingaches · 05/12/2024 18:54

I’ve seen them fawning over each other, irritating but why is it worrying?

SirChenjins · 05/12/2024 19:08

It’s more than fawning.

Everythingaches · 05/12/2024 20:23

Maybe I’ve not seen the worrying ones then, what are they doing?

SirChenjins · 05/12/2024 22:33

Which ones have you seen?

Everythingaches · 06/12/2024 07:04

I’m not sure! Holding each others hands?? Matching tattoo ones?

Didn't the 9 from Fellowship of the Ring also get matching Elvish tattoos, apart from John Rhs Davies?

Disturbia81 · 06/12/2024 10:16

Absolutely loved it and I'm someone who hates when they burst into song in films. Just shows how different we all are 💚
