Hi!

Has anyone seen this movie yet? Seems some decent reviews and thinking of going today maybe.

Thanks!

Would recommend.Saw it last night, very creepy. Hugh Grant is excellent.

I watched it yesterday. Wasn’t impressed and found it really predictable. I wouldn’t consider it a Horror either, definitely more of a Thriller

FourEyesGood · 03/11/2024 21:08

It was really well shot, with great performances from the three leads. I don’t have the stomach for horror, and there were a couple of moments when I had to look away, but it was mainly more thriller than horror. Very tense.

Inspectorlemon · 03/11/2024 21:11

I saw it yesterday and didn’t like it. It wasn’t as clever as it thought it was and the plot was frankly ridiculous.

Obsessedwithlamps · 03/11/2024 21:25

I didn’t like it at all. The first 15 minutes was quite enjoyable and I thought the leads were good, but the storyline is ridiculous. Complete waste of money and time.

leia24 · 03/11/2024 21:51

I didnt like it. There were lots of moments that could have turned into something brilliant and really scary but it just never really kicked in. It was nowhere near as clever as it wanted to be

tothelefttotheleft · 03/11/2024 21:52

I thought it was really good.

I massively agree with you

ZekeZeke · 03/11/2024 22:09

It was bloody rubbish.
Acting was great but storyline was dreadful.
Not scary at all.

I loved it right up until the end when I just lost patience. Up until then I found it really creepy and as a woman recognised those 'oh shit' feelings that come after you've begun to realise you've made a dangerous mistake

pinkdelight · 06/11/2024 09:17

Performances were good and it was compelling up to a point then it all went pears. Very talky too, like Mansplaining the Movie. Hugh pulls it off better than most would, but it's still more of a lecture than really dramatising the idea.

Pleasestopthebunfight · 06/11/2024 11:54

Lots of different opinions which is great!

I did go and see it and quite enjoyed it. I felt Hugh's acting was great, almost like stage acting if that makes sense.
The fact it wasn't too much of a horror film was probably a plus for me to be honest.
My thoughts are that if you fancy a trip to the cinema, it's a decent film, but otherwise fine to wait for it to appear on Netflix!

I'm looking forward to watching this

Saw it tonight. Not amazing but thought provoking & good to watch with a teen (or anyone really) as a starting point to discuss beliefs, religion and why we believe what we believe. We chatted about it the whole way home!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 09/11/2024 22:35

I went with teen dd tonight, we liked it but there seems to be quite a lot of these type of films about at the min.

Basically a psycho man looking for excuses to terrorise and murder young women 🫤

Hugh Grant was very good.

rosemole · 09/11/2024 23:13

Yeah true, men attacking women is so normalised that I was totally focussed on the beliefs discussion rather than that.

charabang · 12/11/2024 07:27

I watched this movie last night with my daughter and we both really enjoyed it. Great performances by the leads and lots to talk about on the journey home. Whilst it can be reduced to man preying on women I think it was so much more.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 14/11/2024 17:56

I enjoyed it. Hugh Grant was fabulous but the 2 young women were very engaging and I was rooting for them.

They also were wearing gorgeous tweed coats worn over full midi skirts, prim blouses, neat cardigans, and covetable Mary Janes and flat shoe boots. I guess I like Mormon chic.

Of course the plot was nonsense, but seriously? Did you expect it wouldn't be?

Whilst Hugh Grant's arguments against religion stood up for me, Sister Barnes' counter argument was well done.

It’s a grown up version of a Scooby Do mystery.
Predictable and naff.

Lead characters are very good.

I saw it today and enjoyed it. I liked the talkiness of it and all the leads were excellent. Very pleased that Hugh Grant isn't attempting any kind of tweakments and having unfiltered close ups

Abracadabra12345 · 15/11/2024 21:46

I also agree about the young women's gorgeous outfits and footwear mentioned upthread

BruFord · 15/11/2024 21:55

My DH talked me into seeing it as I don’t like horror. As PP’s have said, it’s more of a thriller with a few “ horror” moments (when I closed my eyes). I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I saw it a few days ago. I think Hugh is brilliant in it. I liked the first half hour or so but then got tired of the same old trope - psycho male kidnaps and terrorises young women for pleasure/kicks/sadism, take your pick. Also, find it really depressing that young women are taught above all to be polite and centre others (generally men) over themselves. So being reminded of that so starkly irritated me!
