Such a disappointment.

Oh I loved it!! Loved every minute ❤️.

14 year old son wasn't impressed though and dropped off partway through! He had refused to watch the first film though and isn't a big film lover. Older teens enjoyed it.

WheresMySupportCat · 09/09/2024 06:53

We watched it yesterday and also thought it was a huge disappointment. And way too gory for me! Surprisingly so. It felt like they were not really sure what to do with it.

The weird musical number towards the end was a low point in alot of low points IMO.

Still- it gave me the chance to watch the original the day before we went and that was enjoyable, so that was something.

blackcatstotallyrule · 09/09/2024 07:55

DH and I both enjoyed it in a ‘so bad it’s good’ way - we felt it was enjoyably rubbish and worth a watch, but the original is better.

PetrichorSoul · 09/09/2024 08:00

The original was obviously superior but we loved it. Had some good belly laughs.

gettingolderbutcooler · 09/09/2024 08:06

I agree. Disappointing 😢

Niftythrifter · 09/09/2024 13:13

Too long and not enough Beetlejuice.

I was disappointed too - they tried to cram too much in. My friend hadn't seen Beetlejuice and didn't get what was happening for about half the film. I didn't get what the Monica Belluci character added either.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 10/09/2024 12:39

The writing out Charles because he’s a sex offender but basing the whole thing on ‘poor Charles’ fucked me off.

The music was rubbish.

It should have been so good.

mum2jakie · 10/09/2024 19:04

I think I'm the only one who enjoyed it! I thought the Soul Train section was hilarious 😂

SwallowsAmazons · 10/09/2024 19:08

I really enjoyed it.

dontforgetme · 10/09/2024 19:14

I absolutely bloody loved every minute of it!

Ineedaholidayagain · 10/09/2024 19:18

It was ok but not as good as the original, and no song routine was as good as Deo from the original. My teens thought it was ok but didn't get the hype.

Well it was the actor who was a sex offender not the character tbf

FunkyMonks · 10/09/2024 19:49

I seen it today and loved it really enjoyed it.

Florally · 10/09/2024 19:52

We all loved it, will probably go again.

SensibleSigma · 10/09/2024 19:56

we loved it- as did young adult kids.

BriocheForBreakfast · 12/09/2024 08:20

I was so looking forward to it but thought it was a bit meh. There were a few funny moments but nothing that made me laugh out loud. DH and DD enjoyed it.

MadisonAvenue · 12/09/2024 14:32

Saw it last night. It was okay. A few laugh out loud moments but the original is far and away the better film.
My husband fell asleep.

autienotnaughty · 14/09/2024 06:41

We saw it last night. I rewatched beetle juice in advance and I was glad I did as there was lots of nods to it.

I didn't lijke Winona Ryder in it, it felt like she was over egging it. She was so much better in the first one. I also disliked how weak the character had become.

I thought Catherine Ohara and Jenna Ortega were fab. I liked the Astrid and the boy storyline, I thought it worked well.

Michael Keaton was ok. I preferred the first film where he had less of a role.

The stapled woman storyline was weird and seemed to just be there for padding.

The end was ridiculous. The musical scene was bizarre. And the birth scene was grotesque.

I thought they should have ended with Lydia and Astrid living in the house with delia and Charles there too. And ends with Astrid and Lydia dancing to shake señora.

BeringBlue · 14/09/2024 22:05

We (me and DS15) loved it! He hadn't seen Beetlejuice when I first suggested I'd like to see the sequel, so we watched it last weekend (I'd forgotten so much, I'm really glad we did, as it has so much relevance).

We loved the nods to other films (not just the first film) and as soon as I saw the birth scene I thought of that horrific scene in The Fly, which of course starred Geena Davis (yes, my mind does work in that convoluted way). We both loved the Willem Defoe character and DS was telling me all about Monica Bellucci and about Italian black and white gothic horror movies (he studied Italian last year) when I asked about the language spoken in the early wedding scene.

I could go on and on about the bits I loved... I know we'll watch it again!

Niftythrifter · 08/09/2024 15:22

Such a disappointment.

Yeah, it's really nothing much more than all the memes and tropes from the original movie bolted together and regurgitated.

No doubt Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice is already signed off and will be along in due course.

Bex268 · 14/09/2024 22:33

I loved it but was devastated when Bob was killed - wtaf 😱

Josette77 · 14/09/2024 22:39

I loved it too!!! So did my partner and 13 yo son.

My son watched the first one the week before.

I love Winona. Her face is so perfect.

Screamingabdabz · 14/09/2024 22:44

I loved it. Thought it was fun and funny. The last 15 minutes were totally superfluous though and Tim Burton should’ve paid Geena Davies and Alec Baldwin squillions to be in this one by any means necessary. It needed them rather than Monica whatsherface and Danny Devito.

SlurpSlooChortle · 14/09/2024 22:55

I thought the Willem Dafoe character was pointless too.
