Help trying to find this film please

It was many years ago that I watched this film, very vague with the details so probably didn’t watch it all. It started off with a young guy (American) mowing a lawn, that was his job. Based in suburbia. Not much to go I know but would appreciate any help.

What type of film was it - romance thriller etc?

Lawnmower man? Sci fi type film and if I remember correctly the main man wore dungarees 😂.

We definitely need more details on the film, what happens in it? It is sweet? Romantic? A horror movie? Does he butcher the neighbourhood with the sit on mower? We need details.

"Can't buy me love"? - pretty sure it starts with the main character mowing the lawn of the girl he fancies. Can't remember much of the film but I do remember that and something about red wine being spilt on a suede outfit that belonged to the girl's mum...(probably got that all wrong but it must have been ca 30 years since I watched it!)

That was my thought too. Piper Laurie and Mel Gibson.

I just watched the start of Tim but I couldn't see a lawnmower at the start, Mel Gibson was in some very short shorts though, I think I might have to rewatch it sometime, it's on YouTube.
