Dirty Dancing - why don't they just snitch on Robbie?

Watching as a middle aged woman, the angst is kind of lost on me. Why don't they tell Baby's dad it's Robbie rather than letting him think it's Jonny and his other kid is off trying to snare Robbie?
At least two direct opportunities. I'm kind of with her dad at this point.

But also: what a beautiful man PS was. Graceful, beautiful, and from his wife's accounts also a lovely soul.

Yeah it’s so frustrating isn’t it. Maybe some misguided sense of it not being honourable to snitch, but when someone does what he did surely honour doesn’t come into it.

And then Dad’s non-apology to Johnny - “when I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong”. Wow!

Isn't it a class thing? Robbie is there as a part time summer job to pay for medical school. He and baby's father therefore have a connection. Johnny is a drop out who will spend his life at the summer camp (until he goes to Cuba) and never dream of going to medical school. He will always be 'the help'. So it's unlikely he will be believed that perfect-robbie is a fuck up.

I don't know. Like why doesn't Penny just say? And why does Robbie then dob himself in! (Just watching it now). Waiting for the return of Jonny.

I reckon there was some sibling rivalry between Baby and Lisa and Baby was secretly hoping that Robbie would screw Lisa over and elevate Baby in her status as ‘the best child’.

Or they secretly thought that Penny was lying.

I watched this recently enough. I didn't think they realised he thought that Johnny was the father, I thought they just thought he disapproved in general.

He says 'who is responsible for this woman?' And Jonny says me.

Then at the door Jonny sees him before he goes and dr dad says something like I see a man who got his partner into trouble and moved on to an innocent young woman.

So Dr Dad clearly thinks Jonny is the dad.

Definitely this. Lisa just offered to do Baby's hair in a kind of peace offering.

Robbie is meant to have good family connections to the hotel, so the working class staff are worried he'll get them sack/blacklisted from other hotels as revenge. Also its the 60s, so the shame of getting pregnant outside of relationship is a big thing.

I saw a theory that after this he goes to Roadhouse and then Point break (starting with The Outsiders) which is kind of nice

I watched this last night. As an adult, I kind of get the dads point! He didn't want his daughter off galavanting.
