Urgh, it's so disappointing. I used think Gerard Butler was every kind of phwoarrgh but have finally had to accept that he's an unwashed, bloated smelly looking guy who just isn't what he thinks he is. Arrogance without any kind of respect or charisma is just a flattened pizza with no topping stuck behind the sofa.

Leonardo di Caprio...he was so beautiful but now he's just a dirty old man

Blonds never age well (sorry, Brad).

Such a lovely man though. Met him at a comic con in 2019 and he was so lovely. He can barely speak but made such an effort to chat to everyone. You could absolutely 100% fancy him for personality now!!!

I've not seen him on much for years. And I do actually prefer a good personality first and foremost

Aldi version of James McAvoy, unfortunately. You think it’s ok, but turns out to be kind of rubbish once you scratch the surface.

Mrsjayy · 09/02/2023 21:52

I watched the Val Kilmer documentary on a flight back from holiday. Oh its really 😔

GimmeBiscuits · 09/02/2023 21:55

Clint Eastwood. Absolutely gorgeous for years but a complete arse.

Kevin Whately.

Yeah, pretty bad.

There's nothing wrong with dear ole Kev.
He's still nice looking.

Mine was John Nettles

I first moved to England in 1995 on a fiancée visa and couldn't work so I watched television in the meantime and caught up with culture. I watched a lot of "Bergerac" reruns and thought he was quite attractive. I'm in the US now and there's a tv channel that plays "Midsomer Murders" on a 24-hour loop. I will always watch the episodes with him in it still. I still like him.

How do you get from Gerrard Butler to James McAvoy???

JM terrifies me btw. In character and out. Always has.

FallonofDynasty · 09/02/2023 21:56

No regrets over actors that I can think of. Might think so and so was great when young, even if have aged badly.

More pop stars, Michael Jackson and Damon Albarn.

PuppyMonkey · 09/02/2023 22:01

I have the opposite with one actor. He was never on my radar when he was young, but oh my I now think 68-year-old Kevin Costner is really attractive in Yellowstone.Blush

2023username · 09/02/2023 22:04

Ben Afleck, just naff now

in reverse, Jude Law, he looks much better and more “manly” now he’s old(er)

Patrick Swayze will always be beautiful RIP

What a rude and negative thread. With some really unpleasant, judgemental comments. Confused Basically tearing apart the looks of loads of middle aged and older male actors. Pudgy, bloated, gammon, greasy, dirty, 'fatso repulsivius,' ooh he hasn't AGED well has he?

Such horrible insults. Hmm I can only imagine the furore, and the sheer uproar, if a thread was started on a mens website slating actresses they used to fancy, who are now fat and old and bloated and rough as a badger's arse.

It's fine to state that you used to fancy an actor some years ago, and now you don't, but the blatant vitriolic insults are just so deeply unpleasant.

Are you new to Mumsnet?

Daisymaker · 09/02/2023 22:14

Richard Chamberlain in Thorn Birds

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 09/02/2023 22:15

@Daffodilis Val Kilmer has had throat cancer in real life and struggles to speak. Have you seen Top Gun Maverick? His voice is produced by AI for the film. It's very poignant when you know that he's fighting the same cancer in real life.

Neil Morrissey in the long-hair years💕
Hywel Bennett in ‘Shelley’ … I had a hell of a shock when he turned up in Eastenders!

Rightsraptor · 09/02/2023 22:17

I also really fancied Vigo Mortensen as Aragorn - I think it was the air of mystery that did it. And I think he wore a cloak? But then I saw him in another role and, well ... no.

Also Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes & David Tenant's Dr Who. But not the actors, just the characters. And the way they played them: all long coats and self-confidence.

Oh, and Klaus/Kaase Bang's Dracula (sorry, I just cannot recall his name - Danish, I think). Again, definitely not the actor but the ball of self-confidence whirling around in a cloak.

AG247 · 09/02/2023 22:18

David Walliams … I was also obsessed with Spike (James Marsters) from Buffy; he definitely has not aged well.

JaneJeffer · 09/02/2023 22:19

Oh yes men are always so complementary to all women all the time

I came here to say James McAvoy! Spent loads of money seeing him on West End but then went to see Cyrano and my downstairs sealed itself up immediately. Something repulsive about a Glasgow man talking in some sort of laaandan man rap speak. I also find his recent interviews really fucking smug.

Thank you for giving me this platform to share this.

SnottyLottie · 09/02/2023 22:19

That awkward moment when you realise that you have gotten Jimmy Nail mixed up with Timmy Mallett…

Andanotherone01 · 09/02/2023 22:20

Ben Affleck. He now looks like he smells of fags, booze and Dunkin Doughnuts

SnottyLottie · 09/02/2023 22:20

I used to be obsessed with Adrien Brody. I still think he’s handsome in a quirky way but my goodness I was besotted with him.

MrsFrugal · 09/02/2023 22:22

Simon from teachers 😂i should know his actual name
