I’m a big fan of the original however I was really disappointed in this. All of the actors are fab in it but I think it lacked all of the charm of the original film ( also on Netflix). It’s a shame as I was looking forward to it and was just disappointed.

I thought it was great fun.

Rumbasedcocktail · 31/12/2022 00:05

Is it ok that I'm now telling myself that James Bond faked his own demise and is now enjoying a happy new life with Hugh Grant solving mysteries and calling himself Benoit Blanc?

Nudity · 31/12/2022 00:12

It was tedious.

it’s great if you suffer from insomnia.

JulieMarooley · 31/12/2022 00:13

I thought it was fantastic, really enjoyed it.

The Daniel Craig accent really irritated me too; it sounded strained, I got a sore throat listening to it ☺️

EarringsandLipstick · 31/12/2022 00:17

Glass Onion's plot was so poor. We were enjoying it mostly, and still hoped for some great reveal but it was silly & implausible & just v boring for the last part.

PandoraRocks · 31/12/2022 02:10

Tedious, silly and the ending was absurd. If I hadn't been watching at a friend's house, I would have turned over. Haven't seen the first film.

Nightynightnight · 31/12/2022 02:19

You can tell more money was spent on GO than KO and that's to it's detriment, I think. KO was cleverer, quieter and a little bit darker. GO was flashier but insubstantial...a bit like the characters I suppose.

Southeastdweller · 31/12/2022 12:13

I renewed my Netflix membership to watch this and wish I'd not bothered. I thought it was really dull and I can't understand why Janelle Monáe is winning awards for her average performance in this film. It was also way, way overlong.

Nightynightnight · 31/12/2022 12:33

SPOILERS *Janelle Monae is a good actor and great musician but this performance was just ok because the character wasn't really that interesting. I felt like a lot of the characters were slightly heightened versions of the actors or their previous characters. Kate Hudson always plays a ditzy, verbally incontinent character and she literally owns a leisure wear company that has been criticized for worker abuse. David Bautista is basically Drax again. Leslie Odom Jr was completely underused because he's normally amazing but I kept forgetting about his character. It just all felt a bit cobbled together and lazy to me.

I thought it was better than the first!! Loved it

So did I actually!

Niftythrifter · 31/12/2022 16:08

I think that the first film’s tackling of social/political issues made it more substantive and the villain was more villainous. I don’t think it worked in terms of setting it in one place either and having the “special guest stars” didn’t quite work and for me meant the film was too self aware as much as I loved seeing AL on screen again.

Yawn Fell asleep,it was boring and pretentious. DC seemed very miscast.

Stellaris22 · 31/12/2022 16:26

Loved it, especially how Rian Johnson states Bron is about generic tech billionaires. But the timing of the release couldn't be more perfect!

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/12/2022 16:30

Just watched the first one - too long, too obvious, and don’t even get my started on DC’s accent! Might give this one a go as it’s defo got mixed reviews so I should form my own view, but my expectations are low!

HermioneWeasley · 31/12/2022 16:34

It was fine. So undemanding that I could scroll on my phone and keep up with what was going on,

daniel Craig seems to have modelled his accent on Foghorn Leghorn.

Wakk · 31/12/2022 17:07

I thought it was rubbish. We guessed the 'twist' very early on.

Disappointing.

FancyFran · 31/12/2022 17:28

I quite liked it. I'd watch dear Daniel swimming in soup!
However go girl to Kate Hudson in that bikini. Age is just a number if you can wear that.

Riverlee · 31/12/2022 21:01

My young adult dc just described Glass Onion like as a full length Death in Paradise episode, and I get what what he means - entertaining but a bit ludocrous.

Loved Janelle Monae and Kate Hudson in it, and the outfits were amazing, especially that multi-coloured dress.

GCAcademic · 31/12/2022 21:55

I just can’t cope with Daniel Craig’s accent, it’s too distracting. In the first film, I was convinced that a central part of the plot must revolve around Benoit Blanc not being who he said he was and faking a Southern accent. No, it was just terrible and DC was unable to put in anything other than a wooden performance because he was clearly so focused on trying to do that accent.

I did enough the cameo from Hugh Grant, though, and the fact that they were living together.

365names · 31/12/2022 21:57

We loved it

Penguinsaregreat · 01/01/2023 00:55

I found DC accent more annoying in the first one. I expected it in the second one. So many detective/murder mysteries based around Agatha Christie novels.

IridescentShadow · 01/01/2023 01:37

I was so bored by the first 1.5 hrs that when it became marginally more interesting it was too late.

I've spent 20 years avoiding Kate Hudson in films, and regret breaking that particular duck.

hattie43 · 08/01/2023 17:51

I've just given up I couldn't get through it . Enjoyed the first one but not this last effort

Lottapianos · 08/01/2023 18:16

'I can't understand why Janelle Monáe is winning awards for her average performance in this film'

Totally agree. Average at best - very bland and dull. The real weak link in an otherwise terrific cast

Loved the outfits and the silliness. Not quite as good as the first one IMO

WashAsDelicates · 08/01/2023 18:57

I thought it was even better than knives out. BB's accent was far less irritating in this one. And it was improved by him being part of the action, rather than an outsider watching.

Poirot for the 21st century!
