What were your favourite parts of the film?
The boyband parts! Omg, the flashbacks 😂

Who would you recommend the film?
Small kids and up to early teens. Adults who grew up in the 90s and Naughties would also love it!

What did other members of your family think of the film?
My teen boys started out watching but the phones soon came out. Foolish children!

Favourite part agree the boyband.
Would recommend to small children to teenagers.
My teenager DD loved it.

I watched it with friends, not family (all early twenties women). We adored it - but two of us, me included, had to bury our heads in the sofa and squeak tell me when it's safe to look again! when Ming finds Mei's fanart. And we scream-laughed when Ming brings pads to school. We loved the little details that reminded us of school - like the NotTwilight book Priya reads, and the 'My Mom already doesn't like you/What?' exchange, and Mei trying and failing to persuade her parents to let her go see a boy band. And both I want it sequences - at school when they're acting all hard and cynical, and later at the concert where the gang has huge anime eyes.

I'd recommend it to 6+ up and teenagers. I think younger children might be bored by some of the dialogue - it's (relatively) quiet and emotionally complex for a children's film - and to girls over boys, not because boys shouldn't enjoy it but because realistically it requires a degree of empathy with the female viewpoint that boys aren't often called upon to use. I think a boy should enjoy it, but it would be more likely to be a girl's favourite pixar film.

We adored it - "I think a boy should enjoy it, but it would be more likely to be a girl's favourite pixar film." It is a rare treat in showing the depth and warmth of girls friendships. As well as a rich and nuanced mother daughter relationships

We've already re watched multiple times and don't always have our 10yo as an excuse.

I'm not part of the What to Watch club, but I loved Turning Red.

My favourite parts of the film were the female relationships- the mum and daughter, the friendship group, and the older relatives.

I would definitely recommend this film to all mothers and daughters from preteen age up to adult.

My DD in her early 20s loved it too. We both had tears watching it, it's quite emotional.

What were your favourite parts of the film?
Def the boyband!!!

Who would you recommend the film to?
kids / teens

What did other members of your family think of the film?
6 year old son - not interested, 8 year old daugther, loved it

GettingBraceTodayHelp · 30/08/2022 16:23

I think would be great for 7 to 13 yr old girls! I quite enjoyed it too!

We watched it last night with 8 and 10 yr old boys. They enjoyed it. Didn't really get it all. Think my 10 yr old was intrigued. DH looked a bit pink at the start, but seemed to enjoy as the film went on!

Older boys might find it quite cringe

Cherryblossoms85 · 30/08/2022 20:13

It was frigging dire.

Coffeechick · 31/08/2022 23:31

the boyband section was the best part.
i think mothers and daughters or younger girls to early teens would enjoy it

younger son didn't really enjoy it as much as other Pixar films
