Did your DC like Encanto? We recently bought Disney Plus and we scrolled through, Dd wanted to watch Encanto and within ten minutes she announced "Mummy this is my best favourite film ever" My Ds who normally says he doesn't like Disney made a fuss and grumbled about it for a while but soon warmed up to it as well. I think I hear that We Don't Talk About Bruno song ten times a day, god knows what they put their poor Dad through with it at the weekends 😂

9 year old ds isn’t bothered by it but 6 year old dd absolutely loves it! I think it’s brilliant

BitOutOfPractice · 08/05/2022 09:22

My dc2 introduced me to it. They are 19. They loved it more than me.

I am the anomaly that hates it. The songs are awful, the story is terrible. Everything is bad. I prefer Onwards or Moana. Moana isn't annoying.

I don't hate it, but the leaving the old home scared my kids and to be honest I felt it was a bit boring. Couple of nice songs.

wonkygorgeous · 08/05/2022 09:52

We all loved it. Grown ups and children alike.

The matriarch is a nasty piece of work yet they all pander to her.

MrsGHarrison87 · 08/05/2022 10:12

Yes they all loved it. Even my 14 year old ds said he thought it was quite good.

PurplePinecone · 08/05/2022 10:15

We all love it. My 4yo daughter loves it. My nearly 9 year old son likes it enough. I love it. Even my husband tolerates it! We have watched it loads. We like all the songs. First song in a while were all the songs are good.

I enjoyed it, it was interesting to see the whole generational trauma thing play out in Disney form as it's a huge theme in a lot of Latin American novels post colonialism/ post dictatorship.
A little friend of mine, who's five and latina, is absolutely obsessed with it. She has a heroine who looks like her now.

myceliumama · 08/05/2022 10:26

I thought that story line was incredibly poor. It's about a grandmother that treats one grand child absolutely terribly for being different. Then she says sorry. That's it. It's visually lovely and the songs are great though. It's still not Moana though. Mona was wonderful .

Thesearmsofmine · 08/05/2022 10:27

My older two enjoyed it(9&11), my youngest is 6 and got bored and went off to play.

MargaritasOnMe · 08/05/2022 10:39

I loved it! DC aren't interested but I do put it on now and again as I love the soundtrack. Agree that Moana has to be one of the best Disney films.

Sewannoying · 08/05/2022 10:49

My DD old is obsessed with it. The music is currently playing on repeat as a type and she is making up dances to go with it, with is a daily occurrence.

saggyhairyass · 08/05/2022 10:52

DD15 said it was fine but I don't think she loved it. More to pass the time on a rainy Sunday sort of thing. I personally didn't think it was very good.

crackersforcheese · 08/05/2022 16:04

Ds 19m is absolutely obsessed and would watch the entire film multiple times a day if I let him!

lauramarano · 10/05/2022 20:39

Yes, absolutely loved Encanto! Had their soundtrack on repeat for weeks!

elQuintoConyo · 10/05/2022 20:43

No. He's 10yo and turned it off. I watched it with one eye open.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 10/05/2022 20:47

Yes. They're 17 and 15, both boys, yet have a strong love for anything Disney. Which their little cousins think is great because they can talk about the films and sing the songs and not get bored like adults Grin

ladygindiva · 10/05/2022 20:49

Loved it. Took them to see it at the cinema on their 5th birthday ( twins) and they've watched it about 20 times since on Disney plus. It's fantastic! They sing the songs a lot too

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 10/05/2022 20:50

Yep my 4yr old loves it- wouldn’t say many films have ever kept her interest.

Smartiepants79 · 10/05/2022 20:53

Interesting, I quite liked it but didn’t think it was particularly amazing or memorable.
Some of the songs are fun and it’s a nice idea with some good characters. Just thought the story was a bit weak.
Kids enjoyed it.

Polpetto · 10/05/2022 20:54

My 4 year old loves it. Only saw it for the first time a few weeks ago and is obsessed! He actually cried at the bit where Abuela shouts at Mirabel which just broke my heart! He loves the first song (Family Madrigal). I’m torn between Luisa’s one and Dos Oreguitas (😢)

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 15/05/2022 20:56

My 8 year old said he liked it but has only seen it once, and hasn't asked to watch it again. I think he wants to like it because a lot of people in his class do. He much prefers Cars and the Hotel Transylvania films though. He's watched them loads.

I didn't like it. The grandmother gets away with everything. It reminds me of when my own family members have behaved horribly towards me, and makes me feel a bit sad.

I loved Onward. Also loved Ron's Gone WrongStar
