Has anyone watched this on Prime this week? I keep thinking about the ending ShockSad

I am way too attached to Daniel Craig's Bond!

I thought the new female characters were excellent though Smile

I watched it and really enjoyed it. Liked Lashana Lynch and Lea Seydoux, but didn't really see the point of Ana de Armas character...

QuestionableMouse · 18/04/2022 12:21

The ending was the best bit imo. I found it very slow and plodding unfortunately but it really picked up in the last 20mins or so.

LightandFruity · 18/04/2022 13:04

Don’t read any more of my post if you don’t want spoilers!

I just watched it the other night. I knew Daniel Craig was not doing Bond any more but didn’t expect that ending.
I was a bit confused throughout the film, although a few vinos had been consumed, and had to search online for an explanation. I may watch it again and things will make a lot more sense.
I think it was good how they were setting it up for a new 007,as James Bond is no more. Personally I will find it difficult because 007 is and always will be James Bond.

LetitiaLeghorn · 18/04/2022 13:08

Spoiler alert.

I'm still in shock. You can't kill off James Bond. I understand they're clearing the decks for a new Bond but just... No.

KittenKong · 18/04/2022 13:10

I thought it was awful.

sobby49 · 18/04/2022 13:12

Yawn

This - very sad ending.

Hohofortherobbers · 18/04/2022 13:30

I absolutely loved it, have seen it 4 times Blush

Are both of you saying that the new character will not be James Bond? But say, John Smith 007? I can't believe that. The name James Bond is iconic and surpasses 007.

LightandFruity · 18/04/2022 17:28

Yes they’ve killed him off James Bond is no more.

Brunosaiditlookslikerain · 18/04/2022 18:51

Those were supposed to be sad faces about the ending!

Daniel Craig's James Bond is so human and vulnerable.

For him to go through all that and then just die is hard to take, I wanted him to be happy.

I think Phoebe Waller-Bridge's writing shone through in writing female characters that weren't there to look beautiful, sleep with Bond or get killed but actually were interesting and believable characters.

I wonder too what will happen with the next film. It's going to have to be someone special to take on the mantle of playing James Bond.

I have just watched it and watched right to the end of the credits.

It said "James Bond Will Return"

LightandFruity · 18/04/2022 21:21

Oooooh SoupDragon. What does that mean? I turned it off before the very end so didn’t see that.

QuestionableMouse · 18/04/2022 21:22

There's a fan theory that "James Bond" is a code name, just like 007.

SoupDragon · 18/04/2022 21:33

They'll manage some implausible twist to save him.

Making "James Bond" a code name would completely against everything that's happened before.

I deliberately watched to the end to see if they had anything there. I think they always put the "will be back" thing.

LetitiaLeghorn · 18/04/2022 21:47

Exactly, you can't just kill James Bond. I mean, he's, well, he's James Bond. He can't die or the world won't be safe.

JohannSebastianBach · 18/04/2022 21:49

I think the plan is to do a reboot.

I'll miss Daniel Craig, I thought he was excellent.

1990s · 18/04/2022 21:54

Yep, the producers have said it’s not the end of James Bond as 007, just another reset. I think they’re going back to the beginning again with him as younger.
SoupDragon · 18/04/2022 22:36

The problem with jumping about in the timeline is that they lose a lot of the technology. Plus they'd have to sack all the other actors.

It'll be interesting to see what they go with though!

Lanatory · 25/04/2022 14:26

So sad but I enjoyed this movie :)

Brunosaiditlookslikerain · 25/04/2022 16:02

I don't know if I'll be able to watch the other Daniel Craig James Bond films in the same way knowing that that's his fate.

Can you tell I usually exclusively watch films that have a happy ending?!

OP posts:
Ferntastical · 25/04/2022 16:10

I assumed they would just reboot - so a new James Bond would come along with his own storyline/arc and it would be like Daniel Craig's version had never been. Much as it was when Daniel Craig took over and he never mentioned Tracy Bond...

Sharrowgirl · 25/04/2022 16:14

Hated it.

You can’t kill off James Bond. He always prevails, despite the odds, that’s the point of the character. Same as you can’t kill off Indiana Jones, Captain Kirk or Jason Bourne. Just nope.

I also couldn’t get invested in Dr Swan being his greatest love. She’s got no personality whatsoever - does she even smile in either film? Say anything more than two moody words at a time? Vesper Lynd was sparky and interesting.

Sharrowgirl · 25/04/2022 16:16

And agree they’ll just reboot. Like they do with superhero films such as Spider-Man

duvetdayforeveryone · 25/04/2022 16:19

I won't give away spoilers, but I hated the ending :(
