Favourite Disney Princess?

Inspired by a question from a young friend - who is your favourite? Mine is Cinderella - I'm 59 and I'm wondering if replies might be age dependant 🤔

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 16/03/2022 21:22

Ponyo.

But if I had to pick an actual one... Leia. Cartoon, Merida.

I'm late 40s.

Floydthebarber · 16/03/2022 21:26

Anna or Moana. I never really got into Disney when I was young but watching Moana and Frozen with dds I liked how they just got on with stuff without waiting to get saved.

BattledoreAndShuttlecock · 16/03/2022 21:32

I'm 50 and my favourites are Rapunzel or Belle.

I think my age group fell between the two golden ages of Disney, and didn't have new classic movies in our own childhoods so we're either looking backwards to Aurora/Cinderella/Snow White or adopting the heroines we watched with our daughters.

AHungryCaterpillar · 16/03/2022 21:33

Belle

DancingBarefootOnIce · 16/03/2022 21:35

Belle (I’m 35)

Second would be Ariel

whoruntheworldgirls · 16/03/2022 21:35

Is Raya a princess?? She kicks ass!

RobotValkyrie · 16/03/2022 21:38

Moana hits a chord for me (42). Nation builder, explorer... She's just fucking epic, and I love her granny Flowers

SingingWaffleDoggy · 16/03/2022 21:42

Belle. She loves books and sees the good in people. I’m mid 30’s. Although I do like Moana. She knows what she wants and gets it, without needing a prince to rescue her.

AWOIF · 16/03/2022 21:44

Tiana from Princess and the Frog.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 16/03/2022 22:29

Rapunzel (42) As a kid it was Ariel.

Pocahontas!

As a child it was always belle but she's been ruined now, I didn't make it very far though the live action, I had to switch it off as she was really unlikeable..she gave a really snotty impression as if she looked down on the other villagers and now I can't see her any other way.

I also liked the animated Mulan better than the live action.

AnnaSW1 · 16/03/2022 22:37

Anna

MrsTimRiggins · 16/03/2022 22:39

Merida, she’s a badass… and she has great hair.
Second choice would be Moana.
I’m 28 🤷🏼‍♀️

Orangelover · 16/03/2022 22:41

Pocahontas - feisty, wants peace and not afraid to stand up for her beliefs. Has the makings of a good leader. Doesn't sack off her family and friends for a bloke even though she really loves him. And sings a lovely song about colours of the wind Smile

Mulan - Willing to die to save her family, and ends up working hard and saving China with her quick thinking and amazing war skills. That scene at the end when all the people bow to her at the Emperor's castle legit makes me cry everyyyy time. And don't even talk about when she gets home and her father tells her the greatest gift is having her for a daughter Blush

They're my two faves. I'm a 90s baby - probably fairly obvious. I did used to love the others as well in fairness but I still watch these two semi regularly and enjoy them Shock

ThePontiacBandit · 16/03/2022 22:42

Meg from Hercules. She’s awesome, determined…and says the quality line You know hues like that, they think ‘No’ means ‘Yes’ and ‘Get lost’ means ‘Take me, I’m yours!’ I’m in my 40s.

theoctoalert · 16/03/2022 22:44

As a child Ariel,
but as an Adult. Moana

glowingcandle · 16/03/2022 22:45

My favourite is Belle and I'm mid thirties, interesting that this seems to be a common theme!

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 16/03/2022 22:46

Yesss @Orangelover 🙌

beautifullymad · 16/03/2022 22:47

Princess Giselle from Enchanted. I'm mid 50's.

SarahDippity · 16/03/2022 22:48

@AWOIF

Tiana from Princess and the Frog.
Me too 🙌🏻
sweetheartyparty · 16/03/2022 22:49

Moana is just so great. I'm 45

Goofbawl · 16/03/2022 22:53

Great thread!
My immediate thought was Moana. Then Merida.
I think I’m being swayed by the songs in Moana though. So Merida may win. I’m torn.

Tsuni · 16/03/2022 22:54

Cinderella. I was just jealous of her mice friends. I'm 29.
If you asked favourite non-princess female Disney character I would say Lilo.

Goofbawl · 16/03/2022 22:54

Off the back of this, I’ve discovered that there are only 12 official Disney Princesses and Anna & Elsa are not included! Moana was the last one to be added! Did NOT know this!
