watched it hte other night and thought it was entertaining - nice easy viewing with a few laughs too. excellent. and i love Colin Firth......

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 13:24

thought it was very funny, actually liked it more than first one! and who doesn't love mr colin firth?

wickedwinterwitch · 05/12/2004 13:30

Saw this last night and thought it was terrible although I did fancy Hugh Grant.

NoMoomAtTheInn · 05/12/2004 14:05

Didn't like it as much as the first one. Thought it all felt a bit forced and relied way too much on slapstick rather than the lines actually being funny. Having said that, the fight was hilarious Grin

Fair play to RZ though - obviously has no actressy vanity whatsoever. I'll probably get slated for this but I thought she looked unbelievably, over-the-top rough. The first film she came across as lovable, ditzy and cute, which is how I think BJ's portrayed in the book. This one I really found it hard to believe that Hugh Grant and Colin Firth were both meant to find her gloriously desirable...

NoMoom - totally agree. The first shot of her at her mother's house was funny...all I could think was, 'Look at that chin, she's bigger than the first film'. Sad, I know. I thought that film was good, but I did not like them bringing Daniel Cleaver back just for HG. Having said that, he was gloriously sexy again. Don't normally fancy him, but I just love b*stards, and he did it really well!

turquey · 05/12/2004 19:27

I agree - thought she looked bloated, pasty and ill. I also thought the characters were so one dimensional and slapsticky that there was no possibility of believing any of it. She was so annoying and stupid that there's no way either man would fall for her even if she hadn't looked so rough, IMO. What was that waddly walk all about, and the overdone blusher scene was just ridiculous. As for the lesbian bit...
Can you tell I hated it?

Davrosthesnowman · 05/12/2004 22:54

turquey, agree with everything you've said but I still quite enjoyed in in a one-watch-only kind of way (and it was nice to go out). It was sooooo derivative of the first one, DH said it was "pure milking" but still enjoyed it too!!

Turkeyeater · 05/12/2004 23:10

Saw lastnight, dragged along by Mrs A, what a waste of time, only bit that I enjoyed was the skiing, and then only because were going to that resort in Feb Grin Poor stories, characters that you dont care about, just a moneymaking scam!

mikeyjon · 05/12/2004 23:29

just got back from seeing bridget jones and thought it was fab!

Christmassbee · 05/12/2004 23:30

Saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was very funny, mind you the wine mat have helped a bit... worth seeing imo.

fruitcake · 12/12/2004 21:26

Agree with bakedpotato & turquey. The end was particularly bad. It was totally cringe-o. Also thought the lesbian idea pretty weak. Loved the snogging with Hugh Grant tho, and felt sympathy for BJ at the party. Hideous dress, fat tummy, terrible hair...
