Now it's snuggle up on the sofa with a movie season (officially, though we're always doing this year round), I need some ideas for what movies you're actually happy to watch with the kids - share yours please (if any!!)

I'll start....

Megamind and Inside Out for the clever quotables.

I'll watch any Disney movie with them from my childhood (I DONT mean the remakes though).

And of course, I'm up for a Harry Potter marathon even when they get distracted and lose interest.

Looooving these suggestions. That's our house booked up until Feb!

One last question then....

If we started a Mumsnet movie score (title is WIP, hold caller please....) in the style of IMDB / Rotten Tomatoes but based on DCs score + your score out of 10....rather than have 'stars' or 'ticks' to represent the score, what symbol should we use instead?

It could be one symbol or in the style of rotten tomatoes it could be more then one to represent good (fresh tomatoes) or bad (rotten tomatoes).

Goosebumps and Goosebumps 2 are big hits in our house around Halloween time.

My DCs also love all the Home Alone movies (even the really rubbish 3, 4 & 5 ones!) and we also love all the Karate Kids.

Guardians of the Galaxy
The Greatest Showman
Bohemian Rhapsody
We watched loads of classic Pixar on Disney + in lockdown as well - Monsters Inc, Toy Story etc.

So many good ones here! I love back to the future and Harry Potter. We really enjoyed the new Jumanji movies (and the original of course!). Marvel movies and most recently Free Guy.

bumbleymummy · 02/11/2021 12:04

Yes to greatest showman too!

bothjetplanes · 02/11/2021 12:08

Recently watched 'UP' which is an animation and was really good - made me cry though. Found it in a charity shop

Also we watched 'Soul' which I really enjoyed - really big themes, not sure kids liked it so much though!

Faves are Spies in Disguise and all the Sean the Sheep.

Fetchthevet · 02/11/2021 12:13

We have film and pizza night every Friday, and all take turns to pick a film. And mainly old school - so dvd mainly. Our ds are 7 & 9. We've been introducing some old ones from my youth.honey I shrunk the kids and honey I shrunk the baby were surprise hits, Ghostbusters 1 & 2, cool running, Harry Potter, star wars films, original superman. Maybe pirates of Caribbean next, and hoping to move onto some MCU soon. They also quite liked the Eddie the Eagle film (the Bo Derek references went over their heads). But got scared by the crooks in the goonies, and wouldn't watch the Princess bride!

cliffdiver · 02/11/2021 17:28

Loads of the ones already mentioned, plus;
