Just watched this and thought it was a really good film. It gets a lot darker than expected though the film does change tone throughout, difficult to describe as one single genre, and didn’t go the way I thought it would.

Thought Carey Mulligan was great in it, hope it gets a wider release especially after the Oscar nominations, so more people get to see it. Interested to hear what others think!

i though Emerald Fennell won an oscar for director?

I think she was planning to die too. She had nothing to live for so she exacted ultimate revenge through her death. She despaired of men and any life of joy and value she could lead. The film's title can refer to her and her friend both having so much promise yet to fulfil as well as Carey's character making a promise to her deceased best friend to avenge her.
