I am going to see this in IMAX on Wednesday. I cannot wait. Inception is one of my favourite films and I think the trailer for this looks amazing. The reviews seem to be mainly very positive so far as well so 🤞🏻

I’m going this afternoon. I’m glad you’ve read some good reviews; the only one I’ve seen gave it 2 stars and said it was all a bit flat. I’ll go anyway because I’ve booked my ticket, but I don’t have very high hopes.

Would love to hear some feedback from those who've been! Worth seeing it in cinema?

My son saw it yesterday. He said the plot was fairly tricky to follow, a lot of time slips/travel but at £5 a ticket he came home happy. They were checking face mask wearing throughout the film. Not sure how intrusive that was.

Saw it last night...and it was...OK.

Amazing set pieces and fight scenes. But yes, it was tricky to follow and hear some of the dialogue. I came away thinking that it's thought it was cleverer than it actually was.

Great to be back in an actual cinema though!!!

I thought you were allowed to take your mask off once seated? I would find that intrusive and distracting.

It was AMAZING. Action scenes were incredible. I was so impressed with Robert Pattison and John David Washington. The plot is incredibly tricky to follow at times but so so clever. I am going back at the weekend to watch it again as I think it will actually improve on second viewing as hopefully more of the pieces will fall into place.

Definitely a big screen film so I’m very glad it finally came out at the cinema. The speech was hard to hear at times but apparently that is a Nolan technique he has used in previous films to add tension and push you to concentrate.... it worked anyway!

Masks - we wore them when we went in and took them off once we were seated. We were eating and drinking through most of the film though. To be honest this film was so gripping and so LOUD you can’t even think about anything else while you’re watching it so I doubt I would have registered wearing a mask through it!

Definitely recommend this. I read a review that described it as Bond on acid which I think just about sums it up for me!

‘Bond on acid’ is about right, I reckon. I didn’t enjoy it. But yes, John David Washington and Robert Pattinson were great.

I had absolutely no idea what was going on!

I enjoyed it. It was definitely action packed. I guessed a couple of ways the plot would go but I reckon a lot of people would. It is tricky to keep track but you do need to pay attention. I agree that the dialogue was difficult to understand during noisy bits or when people had masks on.

I didn't mind wearing the mask and I felt very safe and distanced from people in a big cinema with not too many people in.

I saw today, enjoyed it but was very tricky to follow. I now have high hopes for Batman, because Robert Pattinson was better than thought. John David Washington was great, not shocked to learn Denzel Washington is his dad.

I saw it yesterday and was really disappointed. I agree that the male leads were excellent but I thought the storyline was utterly confusing and for the first third of the film the dialogue was very quiet.

I saw it on Thursday. Very difficult to follow and hard to hear quite a lot of the time. I have a feeling that closer scrutiny will reveal that the central premise is quite flawed. I was hoping for something on a par with Inception (one of my fave films) and for me it fell short. Still it was a very thrilling watch and the stunts were as amazing as ever!

The cinema experience was very pleasant. Very quiet. We wore face masks in the communal areas but took them off when in our seats. It felt good to be back! Slightly bored of all the bloody Covid ads though!!!

Also I’ve just realised that the soundtrack hardly registered with me, despite being incredibly loud, so perhaps not as good a job as Hans Zimmer would have done.

Im in two minds with this as seen some mixes reviews on it and not a particular fan of Christopher Nolan other than the Dark Knight trilogy. This is a review without spoilers from a you tube channel i follow for anyone that is interested which has left me undecided.

We loved it. Interesting point about Nolan’s intention with the muted sound!
We all wanted to see it again to catch up on the bits we missed whilst focusing on the action.

Wore masks And were all prepared for social distancing but were the only 4 peeps in the cinema. Which meant we didn’t have to worry.
That was a bit alarming because in a 15 screen cinema That is usually Packed it was just empty. Not only that but at 9.00 pm there was only one screen left open. All the surrounding restaurants and bars were empty. It was a real eye opener and I forgot the film On the way home because it was a shock how things have changed and I was thinking about how long these place can stay open and what will happen if they can’t. Sorry I know that’s a bit off the point. We usually dissect the film on the way home.

I’ve seen it twice now. Definitely worth watching it again - things start to become a lot clearer. Events just happen so quickly it can be hard to keep up so a second watch definitely helped.

I couldn't understand any of it! And I find John David Washington unappealing in every way possible so I won't be bothering with rewatching it. It's such a shame as I loved Dunkirk and some of Nolan's Batman films.

I saw this at the weekend. It was tricky to grasp as others have said and I found the language a bit pretentious. I think if the language was a bit easier it would have made the tricky plot easier to follow.

All in all I enjoyed it and it kept my attention. I love the Marvel movies but the finale 40 min CGI-fest fights are getting tiresome and I find my mind wandering.

I honestly really recommend a second viewing for anyone who wasn’t sure about it first time round and found it hard to follow. A lot of things become so much clearer once you know what to look for.

Patterson seemed embarrassed and I felt he was just phoning his performance in. As for Kenneth Branagh wasn’t he a Shakespearean actor? If so why was he basing his Ukrainian baddie on one of the meerkats?
Elizabeth Debeki gave her usual performance as a posh slightly haughty wife of a rich man and with little frisson between her and lead man. They actually looked ridiculous together.
All in all I would say don’t waste your money.

Also, I’m not sure that being good looking is a requirement for a leading man - I’m pretty sure that’s more about their ability to play the part! I thought Washington and Pattinson were both excellent (and good looking... )

No a leading man (or woman) does not necessarily have to be good looking but they do have to be believable and you have to ‘buy in’ to the character. Whether that’s a serial killer or an old fisherman.
Didn’t think Washington gave any characterisation, he wasn’t even believable as a tough guy.

I kind of agree with this. Although I think Washington is a good leading man and very different from Black Kkklansman, which is the only other film I’ve seen him in.

I read a review which described it as ‘a stupid person’s idea of a clever film’ (sorry OP, no offence meant!) and I tend to agree.

The cinema I went to was pretty empty and we only wore masks on the way in and out, not during the film.

I do actually think that reviewers comment is somewhat rude. People like or dislike all kinds of different films which doesn’t make any of them stupid! I happen to think Christopher Nolan makes fabulous films and I thought this was genius, very enjoyable to watch, and yes, a very clever film. And I’m pretty confident I’m not stupid.

(I do agree with the point about Elizabeth Debicki though. She didn’t really fit in properly with Sator)

V minor spoilers
I actually really enjoyed it, but agree that great swathes of the dialogue were actually unintelligible - I cant believe that that wasn't picked up in 'the rushes' or test screenings, or whatever. The Indian actress in particular, but R Patz, DJW and Liz Debicki were all guilty of it at times. SirKen had flawless diction - a few years of 'Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry' at RADA or wherever shine through, there.
Pattinson v good but with very distracting Julian Sands hair. I really quite like Liz Debicki but she's 6 ft 3 ins in her stockinged feet and no one else in the film is, so the bit where she was being pulled forward by a gas mask thing by a rentathug, looked absurdly like Olive Oyl and Bluto in a comic strip. I actually laughed.
Didn't recognize Aaron Taylor-Johnson at first, but he was extremely good although his accent started at The Stath and ended up Eric Bana in 'Chopper.
And I do like the chap from 'Yesterday'. Very cute.
Script needed serious work: 'Every living thing could be wiped out' 'Including my son'. Well, er, yeah.
