Really enjoyed this. Good story, entertaining, warm, funny.

Stunning artwork, amazing. Worth seeing for that alone.

Music good, works well, but not as good as the original.

Went with four girls aged 8-12 who all loved it too.

Parents die when girls are teenagers at beginning of first film- which is about Elsa's coronation.

Saw it today with 6&8yo.
6yo got very scared in places. Bit surprised it was a U! But overall they enjoyed it.

I wanted a wedding too... Maybe that's Frozen3?

Solitaryradiator · 01/12/2019 18:54

My 4 year enjoyed it but she did spend about 20 mins gripping me and crying when Elsa ‘died.’ She wouldn’t believe me that she’d be alright

They also talk a LOT about dead parents which caused a lot of questions. Most young children completely missed that they died in the first film.

I thought it was totally forgettable

noblegiraffe · 01/12/2019 19:25

Very disappointing. Elsa was the Fifth Element? Anna as Queen? Elsa didn’t even turn up to her coronation?

The baddie being some long-dead guy meant it totally lacked any emotional impact. The first film being about the love between two sisters and that being the key to saving their lives was amazing. This one was about destroying a dam (Madagascar) and Elsa deciding she wanted to abdicate responsibility and live in the woods?

Meh.

guiltynetter · 01/12/2019 19:30

I went to watch it with 5 year old DD, and while she loves it and i enjoyed it I don't think she understood the plot and whispers neither did I fully Blush ill need to rewatch it I think.

guiltynetter · 01/12/2019 19:32

oh and none of the songs have stuck with me. my DD asked to sit on my knee when the giants were on.

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 03/12/2019 13:32

I loved into the unknown and show yourself such a powerful song

LochJessMonster · 04/12/2019 15:03

Wasn't that impressed with the story line but found Olaf extremely funny all the way through which saved it.

Wasn't sure if the song Christof sang like a 90s boy band was suppose to be funny but had me in stitches at how bad it was.

Venger · 04/12/2019 18:33

Saw it last week and the opening of All Is Found (the song the mum sings about the river) sounds exactly like another song but I cant think what. I can hear the tune and a choir soloist type voice singing it but can't place it. Been thinking about that more than the actual film which says a lot about the film itself.

It was good but not as good as the original.

BeTheHokeyMan · 04/12/2019 18:39

We absolutely loved it ! I actually think it's better than the first one Blush loved the animation and the songs have been singing them non stop since. Olaf recap was hysterical Grin

GunpowderGelatine · 08/12/2019 23:57

Am I the only one who was confused AF watching this?! I don't think it was just me, my friend was baffled too!

Isadora2007 · 09/12/2019 00:09

Yes what was the ship doing there?
The ship got wrecked on its way up there when Elsas parents were tryIng to do what Elsa managed and get to that magical river bit up North from the song. To find out about elsas powers.
Why were the forest people punished by the mist rather than arondale? both were as the arondale soldiers were stuck there too.

What did Elsa ‘transform’ into?
Nothing she was good enough just as she was. She thought she’d find a new element but she was really the linking thing herself so she just saw her own strength for what it was.

purpleme12 · 09/12/2019 00:13

Well I have to say I wasn't bothered with it. I can't believe so many people love it. Not a patch on the original

purpleme12 · 09/12/2019 00:20

Also I can't recollect any of the songs from the film

Minesril · 09/12/2019 22:37

'I prefer you in leather' Shock

Ozgirl75 · 15/12/2019 10:43

I took my two boys at 7 and 9 and we liked it but the 9 year old had a lot of questions - what was the voice, why had the Arandale people attacked the forest people in the first place, what had they survived on for 34 years, what was the lizardy fire thing and was there a wind one too etc etc.

I loved Christoff and Olaf and I loved “I prefer you in leather” Shock

Also loved the Olaf recap and there were loads of funny bits, it was definitely funnier than the first one.

These are answered in the film but can be hard to pick up.
The voice is Elsa and Anna’s mother.
The Forest people were attacked because the King was mistrustful and jealous of their link to magic and wanted to stop it (remember how mistrustful of magic people are in the first film, at first!)
The elements were manifested into ‘things’ such as the fire lizard and ‘Gale’ (Elsa was the manifest of the fifth element of ice/snow.

Sewrainbow · 11/01/2020 22:17

My 9 year old ds said it was better than first. I loved them both and so glad I saw this in the cinema, the original I only saw on DVD as the hype passed me by first time round.

It looked beautiful and I like the fact that it was all about the sisters and their history I think doing a big wedding at the end would take away from that and it was never about romantic love but family love.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/07/2020 22:42

Rewatched today, now it's on Disney+ and enjoyed it more second time round. It helped that I had watched the "making of" series beforehand.

The elements appear throughout and yes, there are physical manifestations - horse(water) lizard(fire) gale(wind) rock giants(earth) with elsa realising at the end that she is the link. The fifith element which links them all and bridges the gap between the magical folk and the Arundelians.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/07/2020 22:45

Posted too soon.

I also think the voice she heard was in her head the whole time. No one else aside from the lizard could hear it (and she and the lizard are linked as spirits).

So her own consciousness was reminding her of the song and the story she was told as a child. She was itchy footed. We know she likes to go off and do her own thing. Remaining trapped as Queen would never have made her happy.
