Anyone else seen it yet? Don't want to give anything away, but it was nothing like I expected (all expectation based on the trailers).

Very good film, although I took 2 7 yr olds, and I don't think they were particularly bowled over by it - more suitable for 10yr olds plus, I would say.

* SPOILER WARNING *

12 yr-old boy, fast runner; new girl comes to town - she beats him in a race; they become good friends and overcome bullies at school; they have lots of freedom and invent an imaginary land where they have adventures (whilst playing in the forest that they get to by swinging across a river on a rope swing).

One day he goes out for the day, and she goes by herself but falls, hits her head and drowns.

It's pretty grim at this point, and the next 20 mins: not getting round it - she is dead and it's desperately sad - powerful raw emotion without magic wand to unwrite the wrongs ... you don't often get this in children's films or books.

In the book there's quite a bit of religious stuff, but it barely features in the film.
