I have a looooong list:

The Green Mile
Schindler's list
Atonement
The Colour Purple
History of Violence
American History X
Seven

All horror films - accidentally watched a Centipede one and was horribly disturbed

Event horizon - felt odd for weeks after watching it

weekfour · 03/01/2018 12:20

Funny Games.

And I have seen it twice because my memory cut half of it out because I was so disturbed.

I walked out of one of the Hostel films.

Tuttytoffee · 03/01/2018 12:48

I'm currently googling most of these and saving some for a future watch. Excellent thread. I've watched a few of these and while some of them disturbed me, I can't say I wouldn't watch any of them again though. Depends what kind of mood I'm in. I wouldn't watch a horror movie on my own as I do get spooked very easily. Films that I've watched that have stuck with me are Shindlers list and Saving private Ryan.

Flawedbroad · 03/01/2018 12:56

Cape fear. Couldn't look at Robert Deniro the same after that!!
The others is pretty creepy too

hidengosqueak · 03/01/2018 13:05

The Zookeepers wife I found immensely difficult to watch. I knew the history and that it was based on a true story but my god it was hard to watch.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 03/01/2018 13:22

We watched Blue Velvet with dd19 the other night. "Why would you watch that for pleasure? Or more than once?"

Newrules · 03/01/2018 13:27

Just thought of two others which left me feeling sick and stunned - Nil by Mouth and This is England.

lynmilne65 · 03/01/2018 13:37

Exorcist
Any Saw film
Anything with real camera footage

QuestionableMouse · 03/01/2018 13:40

The Descent
Into the Wild (a friend bought it for me because it was set in Alaska which is somewhere I'd love to visit but I absolutely hated the movie... Made worse because my friend insisted on watching it with me and I had to pretend to like it.)
Event Horizon
The Road/The Mist... Both left me seriously depressed for days after.

alittlehelp · 03/01/2018 13:53

I'd only just managed to forget about Under the Skin and now it's back in my head. The last beach scene is so upsetting it makes me feel sick. And I've seen most of the other films mentioned on here and not been too bothered!

Vitalogy · 03/01/2018 14:17

Into the Wild One of my favourite films that one.

alittlepieceofme · 03/01/2018 14:24

The Butterfly effect
The Strangers
Wolf Creek
The Hills Have Eyes

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets effected by films, I thought I might be too sensitive!

N2986 · 03/01/2018 16:01

@candyfloss112 that was it! Thanks

N2986 · 03/01/2018 16:10

I am legend really upset me too. Not sure why but I wouldn't watch it again. Don't like anything involving murderous children either ie child 39, the good son, identity etc

Aspieparent · 03/01/2018 16:19

Blood diamond really got to me. Hate it and will never watch it again.

Footle · 03/01/2018 16:26

ermagerdsnur, oddly no. I'm using it to add to a list of films I won't ever watch.

Eenymeeny123 · 03/01/2018 16:34

I saw Seven in the cinema and it shocked me at the time but I have watched it again. Eden Lake freaked me out for days!!!! Any of the Saw movies or movies that are guesome. I like a good horror but not ones that have scenes of mutilation. I just looked up the synopsis for Serbian film, bloody hell reading the storyline alone turned my stomach never mind viewing it.

goodnightfeast · 03/01/2018 16:56

alittlehelp - sorry. I only made it to the first beach scene - from what you say, I gather there is more than one. It's the most horrible and distressing scene I can remember seeing. I just had to turn it off, I was so upset.

lucylouuu · 03/01/2018 16:57

the hills have eyes

ohfortuna · 03/01/2018 16:58

I remember under the skin now, yes the beach thing was horrid but I got bored of the film and didnt finish it

mrsdolittle · 03/01/2018 17:04

Seven. Saw it on video (remember those!!!) about 20 years ago and it still haunts me to this day. Also Kalifornia - found that completely horrifying. Even thinking about these films freaks me out.

PianoCat · 03/01/2018 17:04

Watership down

MonaTheMoaner · 03/01/2018 17:06

Eden Lake (a British horror with Michael Fassbender). The entire film has me anxious.

georgie262 · 03/01/2018 17:07

Alpha dog - I had to turn it off towards the end I was hysterically crying (I never usually get upset at films) I knew it was a true story

KenForPM · 03/01/2018 17:07

I wonder what on Earth goes through the minds of these creators/directors to make such graphic and disturbing films. Particularly those behind A Serbian Film and the Human Centipede trilogy. They cannot be normal.
