Anyone seen The Peanuts Movie?

I'm curious to know what ages it's pitched at. My sister has suggested we take both our families to see it and then go out for pizza (all boys) their ages range from five to fourteen. Are we bonkers or do you think everyone will be happily entertained?
I feel very nostalgic towards Charlie Brown I must say, but is this film any good?

The film is wonderful for nostalgic adults and small kids. I'm not sure teenagers would get much from it but it's only an hour and a half long, sure they could suck it up.

Be warned that the short film before it is about Scrat from Ice Age - I thought we'd gone into the wrong cinema :)

NickAngel · 06/01/2016 13:05

It's ok but not memorable or very funny. There's a CB storyline and a Woodstock/Snoopy one but that's it.
It looks great and is completely Peanuts as it was but I was bored ( but quite charmed) by it and so was my DS.

Fizrim · 06/01/2016 13:07

It is recognisably the cartoon strip - they use some of the same poses for Snoopy, for instance. My DD liked it (9).

TheLowKing · 06/01/2016 13:10

My 8 year old boy and 12 year old girl were bored stiff (and going to the cinema is a huge treat which happens 3-4 times in a lucky year). First time they've ever not enjoyed a film at the cinema!

kimlo · 06/01/2016 13:11

It was alright, I did get a bit sick of it towards the end. Dd2 6 enjoyed it.

HairsprayQueen · 06/01/2016 13:12

I enjoyed it in a nostalgic way, ds2 (who's 4) liked it and my nine year old boy thought it was ok but I reckon any older without the fond memories might not find it exciting enough.

SouthWestmom · 06/01/2016 13:18

I'm with kimlo.
Loved the sweet nostalgia for most of it then got sooooo bored. All of the several kids hated it (ranging from 7 to 14) . They didn't get why the adults didn't use words, didn't get why the kids were so mean, didn't get Peppermint Patsy (tomboys aren't unusual anymore).

Whatsername24 · 06/01/2016 13:19

I really want to see it but my husband's reluctant and I wouldn't even dream of asking my sons - they're 18 and 15 Hmm

Saxons · 06/01/2016 13:21

It's just like the cartoon. Sadly all our adults were board. The pre teens/teens weren't impressed. The little ones thought it was ok

Kingfisherfree · 06/01/2016 13:24

My 3 year old enjoyed it but my other 2 were bored 10 and 14. I really wanted to see it but have to say I was getting bored too by midway point. It is a bit dull sorry.

SpecialistSnowflake · 06/01/2016 14:06

The thing I loved about Peanuts was the Vince Guaraldi soundtrack, so I was thoroughly put off when the trailer featured a Flo Rida song... Is there pop music all throughout the film?

ineedaholidaynow · 06/01/2016 14:12

We really enjoyed it, including DS(10). DH thought it was better than Star Wars!

GreatBigHoo · 06/01/2016 14:15

The music is mostly a proper score by Christophe Beck, and very reminiscent of the classic Peanuts stuff.

Three-year-old DD2 and I enjoyed it (although I must admit I was finding the Snoopy flying ace strand tedious by the end). It's gently funny and sweet. Agreed that older children who don't have the nostalgia factor would probably find it pretty dull.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 06/01/2016 14:16

ds is 8 his friends are 8/7 they hardly laughed and didn't seem impressed

I was disappointed I found it boring but have watched some of the old Peanuts online and my faith is restored

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 06/01/2016 14:16

I loved it for the nostalgia trip, I had tears in my eyes at several points and it was wonderful how there were so many details the same. My children enjoyed it, 5yr old loved it, eldest (12) wasn't so sure but said it was ok. I have friends who were bored by it, I can see without the pull of nostalgia it might not be the most exciting. I grew up watching the Peanuts gang so I adored it, for me it was perfect :)

Paddingtonthebear · 06/01/2016 14:19

I liked it for the nostalgia. It's quite sweet. My three year old enjoyed it, it's the only film she's sat all the way through, she doesn't even do that with frozen

diymania · 06/01/2016 14:22

Have a 7yo and 10yo both found it boring. I loved snoopy as a kid and it was nostalgic but I also found it very dull (and fell asleep....nice nap though!)

Trottersindependenttraders · 06/01/2016 14:24

It's charming but it's a bit dull. Kids aged 2 - 6 all liked but I wouldn't say they were blown away by it.

Peanutbutterfingers · 06/01/2016 14:24

Agree, beautifully made but utterly dull.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 06/01/2016 14:27

I took 4 12 yos and one 49 yo

the kids enjoyed it (one more than the others) and me and the 49 yo had a lovely sleep

MavolioBent · 06/01/2016 14:52

It was OK. I enjoyed it for the nostalgia and dd1 (7) loved it. Ds2 (10) said it was OK but not really worth the (rare) cinema trip.

gabsdot45 · 06/01/2016 14:59

It's not great. I like Charlie Brown and the other kids but I can't stand Snoopy and half the film was him.
I took DD aged 8 along with various other kids of around that age. They enjoyed it but it's not the kind of film they'll watch again

PotterBot · 06/01/2016 15:25

I had a quite excellent nap most of the way through it.

HairsprayQueen · 06/01/2016 15:32

I can't remember much snoopy bits, perhaps I had a sleep too!!

Bridgetsbluesoup · 06/01/2016 15:57

Ha, yes, I slept on and off through most of it. The Snoopy and Woodstock bits were irritating and the rest of it dull. I had high hopes but it was nowhere near as good as the old Snoopy movies.
