Anyone seen it?

OP posts:
ghosty · 31/03/2006 03:21

No

ghosty · 31/03/2006 03:21

Not out yet in NZ ... any good?

arfissimeau · 31/03/2006 03:32

When's it out in Oz? I think DD might like this one. Ice Age was very good but sequels are always rubbish IME.

Hulababy · 31/03/2006 08:09

Thinking of taking DD to see this next Wednesday on her birthday (she'll be 4). We haven't seen Ice Age itself - don't suppose that will matter though with a children's film. Will be interested to see what everyone thinks of it if they see it before then.

GeorginaA · 31/03/2006 08:19

I am so looking forward to seeing Ice Age 2 - the first film was absolutely brilliant, very funny and definitely stood the test of watching over and over again on DVD Grin Just hope the second isn't a disappointment...

Katherine · 02/04/2006 14:28

I saw it yesterday. Wasn't a disappointment. :) Quite a lot of singing in it which I wasn't keen on but our youngest 2.7 loved. Quite sacry though. You know the bit in iceage 1 where the ground is dropping away over the lava - well there is quite a lot of stuff on a similar level to that. More than iceage 1 I would say. But its very funny too. DD1 (6) spend a lot of time on my knee. But we all loved it. Grownups as well as kids.

red37 · 02/04/2006 14:33

Taking dd1 & ds1 to see it in the easter hols. The first one was great

Bugsy2 · 02/04/2006 14:33

That's good news Katherine. We'll be going to see it next week.

Troutpout · 02/04/2006 17:47

Saw it today...it was really good!
Had she been well ...i could have taken dd(3) to see it . ds (8) really enjoyed it...and there were lots of little kids really cracking up ...and chuckles for parents too

Hulababy · 02/04/2006 17:49

Really pleased the reviews are coming in good. Going to see this on Wednesday, DD's birthday :)

Troutpout · 02/04/2006 17:52

hulababy...i would recommend seeing the first film first. You don't really need to...but it think it would add to the enjoyment if you know the characters...and the ongoing themes.

Hulababy · 02/04/2006 18:01

We have missed it both times it was on. I am guessing that DD won't really know much difference. She saw Shrek 2 on the plane, before she saw Shrek 1 for example! Would have been better for me and Dh though. Don't know anyone with DVD before Wednesday though.

Frenchgirl · 02/04/2006 18:17

saw it yesterday with dd(6), very funny and the squirrel is still the best bit
took a little while to get into it but it's good

GeorginaA · 02/04/2006 18:23

Oh I'm so glad this is sounding good.

The original film was the first kids film we bought on DVD for ds1 - he had chickenpox, I was pregnant, it was the Easter holidays and we were desperate to cheer him up. We must have watched it back to back solid for about 3 weeks and it was STILL funny Grin

tissy · 02/04/2006 19:56

we thought it was just as good as Ice Age 1, but it helped to know what happened in the first film. Dd(4) is a BIG scaredy-cat, but the only bits she didn't like were short -lived and I was able to reassure her that they would all be fine- and they were!

MadameDeMars · 02/04/2006 20:14

Hula, I have the DVD. Am happy to lend it to you.

Email me on lovelymarslady at aol dot com and I'll post it first class tomorrow if you like Smile

Fab film!

MadameDeMars · 03/04/2006 14:33

Let me know when it arrives!

Enid · 03/04/2006 14:34

is the squirrel thing with the nut still in it?

MadameDeMars · 03/04/2006 14:38

Yes!

rickman · 03/04/2006 22:16

We watched Ice Age 1 the other day. I thought it was sad and was struggling with the lump in my throat when ds said, ooh mum my eyes have gone a bit runny, I must be staring too hard!

CountessDracula · 03/04/2006 22:28

Saw it on Sunday, it was great, we all really enjoyed it

CountessDracula · 03/04/2006 22:29

though dh was miffed that they didn't point out the reason WHY the ice caps are melting!

puddle · 03/04/2006 22:45

Is it sad though? I WEEP at ice age 1 every time...when the mother dies, when the mummy mammoth and baby die and when the baby is handed back to his father. And I mean buckets (especially at the end). Saddest kids cartoon film ever IMO.

rickman · 03/04/2006 22:49

God i'm glad I missed the bit about the mummy mammoth dying, i only saw the bit when the boy was given back. That was bad enough.

MadameDeMars · 04/04/2006 11:37

Did it arrive hula? Smile
