I found so many films zzzzzzzzzzzz this year and last. I think I've watched too many and seem to have a knack for spotting the so called twists a mile off whilst everyone around me is all oooh and ahhhh at the plotlines , I blame 24 myself..Grin.

I'd love some recommedations of films you've seen recently, doesn't have to be new this year.

I like most things except slasher type gubbins, not for me.

The Fall. Amazing, brilliant, fabulous film. I got it quite cheap in HMV after seeing it at a friend's house.

AlmightyCitrus · 01/01/2011 15:08

Ooh, yes. The Fall is brilliant. Not the sort of thing I'd usually watch at all but I loved it. And visually it is absolutely stunning.

Wigeon · 01/01/2011 15:13

Memento. Completely bonkers about a guy who keeps loosing his memory, and the whole thing is told in flash backs. I would be amazed if you can keep track of what's going on, let alone guess the plot. When we watched it, Dh and i had to keep pausing the DVD to figure out what was happening. Brilliant film tho.

Megglevache · 01/01/2011 15:15

My fave films over the last few years that I've loved are:

Donny darko
Memento
Some like it hot(oldie but goody)
Die hard (I know! Wink)

No country for old men
Fargo
Delicatessen
Memento
City of god

I watched Inception last night - written/directed by the same man who did Memento - excellent!

BooBooGlass · 01/01/2011 15:25

ou will enjoy The Fall. I watched it without knowing a thing about it, and that made it even better I think. It's a bit cheesy, but I watched Remember Me with my little sister a few months ago, and I didn't see that plot coming at all.

Megglevache · 01/01/2011 15:25

thanks nosey, yes I saw it thought it was rather good.

Have you seen a film called "Frequency"

Megglevache · 01/01/2011 18:09

umm is that the one with the Quaid man?

If so yes! Grin

bruffin · 01/01/2011 18:33

yep

TrillianAstra · 01/01/2011 18:56

Have you seen The Prestige?

You'll guess some parts but the end of the film is just bonkers.

Plus it's Wolverine vs Batman doing magic in Victorian England!

cornsilkcornedbeefhash · 01/01/2011 18:58

shawshank redemption
usual suspects
signs

cornsilkcornedbeefhash · 01/01/2011 18:58

Nosey Noonoo - was he asleep or awake at the end?

thighsmadeofcheddar · 01/01/2011 18:59

In Bruge, completely unexpected genius.
Also Burn After Reading. Brad Pitt really hilarious.

cornsilkcornedbeefhash · 01/01/2011 19:01

Inglorious basterds (sp?) a bit violent but unexpected!

MrsColumbo · 01/01/2011 19:01

Million Dollar Baby
Old Boy

mylifewithmangers · 01/01/2011 19:05

My recommendation for 2010 is Moon - way, way better than I was expecting or lead to believe.

Also The Road if you like a bit of post-apocalyptic mayhem. Harrowing and desperate, but bloody marvellous.

We watched Shutter Island the other day and that was also worth a watch

Megglevache · 01/01/2011 21:04

Seen all of the suggestions but not Moon.
Thanks for that.

Megglevache · 01/01/2011 21:05

I have seen it. Oh I thought it was amazing- made me sob like a baby! Sad

Megglevache · 01/01/2011 21:35

Have seen The Prestige, loved it.

Old Boy looks great. Thank you!
