Man murders his own Daughter

The limited details I've read of this case leave more questions than answers.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly9zx02rejo

Daughter stabbed by her own Father who was drunk and high on cannabis while he claims they were "mucking around". I have my own suspicions as to what was going on in that home that led to her murder. Heartbreaking to read of a teenage girl having her life taken by her own Dad in her own kitchen. Where are women safe?

A teenage girl with long brown hair looks at the camera. She is wearing a white shirt, a navy and white striped tie and a navy blazer.

Scarlett Vickers: Darlington dad guilty of murdering daughter

Simon Vickers claimed Scarlett's death was a "freak accident" but a jury convicts him of murder.

What makes it worse is that the mother is actually defending him 😡

icelolly12 · 27/01/2025 19:48

@AnotherWeekAnotherUsername The story he gave is so ridiculous. How can she in good conscience lie for him?! She should be jailed as well as him.

he said he’d had four glasses of wine and a spliff, no doubt he’d actually had more. They were beginning to cook her dinner at 11pm and were ‘play fighting’. I suspect it was a deeply dysfunctional and sad house with regular violence. God knows what really happened to that poor girl

doinghollywoodshit · 27/01/2025 19:51

His story is ridiculous and the mother is an idiot, I’m shocked that she can defend that scumbag.

Uta100 · 27/01/2025 19:53

Awful. I wonder if wider family & friends knew what was going on in that house. It all seems very odd.

icelolly12 · 27/01/2025 20:25

Hmm, yes I would be interested to hear from family and friends, although the likelihood is they either wouldn't know the truth, or live equally as dysfunctional lives and so would think being drugged up and chucking knives is all totally normal behaviour.

Noone has stabbed anyone high in cannabis...

Lorelaigilmore88 · 27/01/2025 21:33

The story he gave is absolute bull shit. He says they were play fighting, he flicked some tongs at her and knocked a knife across the kitchen by accident... apparently he didn't realise until he saw his daughtet covered in blood.
Except she was stabbed in the chest, and it takes some effort to get a knife through the sternum. Poor child. I hope he rots.

not sure why we are shelling out good tax money on a judiciary system, when we have you lot playing judge and jury for free.

They aren’t. They are agreeing with the findings of the judge and Jury.

It's normal human nature to comment on a publicised case of the death of a child by a parent, particularly given the obvious and outrageous lies by this man. Maybe you have no curiosity but most of us do

Apart from the fact hes been found guilty now, people discussing the guilt/innocence of people in headline news articles isnt a new phenomenon.

verityveritas · 27/01/2025 23:28

What a cock and bull story. I mean no one in their right mind would believe that pile of bilge. Anyway, surely throwing tongs at some would bloody well hurt, so he's not exactly covering himself in glory is he. But yeh mate of course you didn't realise it was a knife....

They've already done their job, thanks. Do keep up. Just commenting on what a stupidly insulting story the murderer came up with.

nocoolnamesleft · 27/01/2025 23:47

The story was total bollocks. A carelessly thrown life would cause a slash injury, or only a shallow penetration. It would not have neatly gone between ribs. It's actually quite hard work to get through a chest wall. Okay, that sounds weird, I'm thinking about when we used to do old fashioned chest drains, with a scalpel then a trocar. It needed some force.

SlipperyLizard · 27/01/2025 23:53

I read this story in the Guardian during the trial and had to show it to my husband to check I wasn’t going mad - who on earth would think anyone would believe such a cock and bull story? I’m so glad the jury found him guilty, poor Scarlett I can only imagine what life must have been like for her.

Eh. Oh yes, in my house we regularly "playfight" with kitchen knives 🙄

Wild on here at times Confused

Newmeagain · 28/01/2025 00:17

Yes - agree with everything everyone else has said. Very, very odd story and there was obviously something dysfunctional going on in that home.

Uta100 · 28/01/2025 12:20

It’s being reported today that he has a violent past. 6 previous offences. In prison at 19. No surprise there.

And yet the bitch of a mother still defended him 😡🤬😡

Cattery · 28/01/2025 15:40

All very odd. Who starts cooking the “tea” at 11pm? I’m thinking the daughter took the piss out of him. He was already wound up and nasty after a day of drinking and he snapped. Bastard. And the mother

WaryCrow · 28/01/2025 18:12

What’s been made clear with the Rudakubana case is how little we get told. God knows what was going on. The bottom line is, another young female life cut short by a violent arrogant male.

Lyn348 · 28/01/2025 18:27

Poor, poor child. I wonder what her life was like.

memememe · 28/01/2025 18:50

Am I the only one thinking he was going to stab the mother and the daughter stepped in the way to protect her mum? Would explain why the mum is defending him if there is abuse...
