Man murders his own Daughter

The limited details I've read of this case leave more questions than answers.

Daughter stabbed by her own Father who was drunk and high on cannabis while he claims they were "mucking around". I have my own suspicions as to what was going on in that home that led to her murder. Heartbreaking to read of a teenage girl having her life taken by her own Dad in her own kitchen. Where are women safe?

A teenage girl with long brown hair looks at the camera. She is wearing a white shirt, a navy and white striped tie and a navy blazer.

Scarlett Vickers: Darlington dad guilty of murdering daughter

Simon Vickers claimed Scarlett's death was a "freak accident" but a jury convicts him of murder.

Am I the only one thinking he was going to stab the mother and the daughter stepped in the way to protect her mum? Would explain why the mum is defending him if there is abuse...

Oh yes, I hadn’t thought of that.

Why were they cooking an evening meal at 11.00pm?

That sound very dysfunctional.

not sure why we are shelling out good tax money on a judiciary system, when we have you lot playing judge and jury for free.

The jury didn’t believe him. The judge didn’t believe him. We don’t believe him.

Was there actually evidence of a meal being prepared or was that just the story they came up with?

Wasn't it something about cutting garlic bread and the knife being placed next to the item he was meant to grab...sounds like an excuse.

This explanation actually makes the most logical sense to me.

Clearly he was lying. That much has been proved. But, thankfully, it is hugely rare for a parent to kill their teenage child. But as we know, DV perpetrators kill 2 women a week. Far more likely the intended victim was the mother and not the child.

That said, even if the wife is a victim. In no way does that excuse her trying to cover for him. He's murdered her daughter. If that didn't prompt her to reveal any abuse I don't know what would. I've been a DV victim myself so I have every sympathy for others in that situation. But never would I betray my DC to cover for any man.
