Arlene Foster suing Dr Christian

Apparently he tweeted that she was having an affair (without any proof), and the way he put it was a spiteful little jibe about her being a “sanctity of marriage preaching woman” adding “it always comes back to bite them on the arse”
Now I understand he might have an issue with her as I think she was against same sex marriage. But this man always strikes me as an arrogant twat and a nasty piece of work.

I tried to post the link but I’m such a technophobe! it’s on BBC news website

Another Team Arlene here! Her politics are very far from mine but he's a nasty, misogynistic creep!

ArabellaScott · 28/05/2021 20:32

A crowdfunder?!

Shock
NiceGerbil · 28/05/2021 20:33

That crowdfunder!

What the hell??!!??

I'm properly aghast. That's unbelievable behaviour.

ArabellaScott · 28/05/2021 20:35

He's raised £1,200! Good lord.

TheCraicDealer · 28/05/2021 20:35

There was an interesting case from 2016 when a member of Sinn Fein implied via tweet that the UUP MP for Fermanagh shot and harassed people when the latter was serving in the UDR. The Plaintiff, Tom Elliott, was awarded 75k in principle, but that was reduced by 35% because the defendant, Phillip Flanagan, took it down within an hour and apologised.

35% of £125k is nearly 44k. Could've saved himself that, plus a chunk of costs, if he'd been half sensible.

RedDogsBeg · 28/05/2021 20:35

Jeez just read the full Judgement, the Judge excoriates Jessen he doesn't hold back at all. Love the Judge/Lawyer speak in it where we would just say you are a fucking liar we have wholly unsatisfactory.

EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 20:36

It rips him to shreds doesn't it.

NecessaryScene1 · 28/05/2021 20:44

Love the Judge/Lawyer speak

Ooh, that'll be some reading for me later then. Not had any good legal hits since all the "surprised" judges from the Tavistock case. Wine

Triphazards · 28/05/2021 20:51

Teddy1970 · 28/05/2021 20:59

There's something about him that's always repulsed me, now I know what.

Oh this one is excellent, you'll love it. The judge may as well call him a jumped up little twerp, massive fucking liar and pepper the 🧐 emoji throughout.
PamDenick · 28/05/2021 21:04

The brass neck of the crowdfunded...

PamDenick · 28/05/2021 21:16

Crowdfunder...

teawamutu · 28/05/2021 21:26

Just read the whole thing.

the judge's language really isn't very coded at all.

So many issues dealt with via a bit of critical thinking Grin

UhtredRagnarson · 28/05/2021 21:31

I can’t read the whole judgment (my attention span doesn’t work that way Grin) so I’m appreciating all the comments on it here!

TeacupDrama · 28/05/2021 22:45

summary
" Dr Jessen is a liar, a frequent and bad liar, he is an incompetent liar"

he has a flat, but he never gets the mail, the conceirge is reliable, he never gets the mail, he moved to his parents but never got mail redirected, his partner never gives him his mail he only has a generic email address which he never checks and he never watches the news ever but somehow manages to tweet on a piece of news that was not even on mainstream media at all definitely a case of trying to make 2+2 = 721, 345 lies

UhtredRagnarson · 28/05/2021 22:54

Grin thank you!

teawamutu · 28/05/2021 23:07

"This brings me to the two items of Royal Mail post, dated 11 March 2021 and
9 April 2021. Having discounted the two far-fetched and unlikely eventualities
referred to in paragraph [84] above, I am left with the unedifying task of trying to
determine which lie has Dr Jessen told."

This was quite a good bit. Grin

ArabellaScott · 28/05/2021 23:11

Oh, thanks for the encouragement to read that, what an absolute classic of the genre! Grin

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 28/05/2021 23:12

It was an amazing read.

ArabellaScott · 28/05/2021 23:13

I especially liked the weird subplot about his parents' dog and the Ronald McDonald graffiti that mysteriously appeared in a smelly alleyway.

DeRigueurMortis · 28/05/2021 23:14

@Teddy1970

There's something about him that's always repulsed me, now I know what.

I felt the same and actually felt quite embarrassed about how I had such a strong reaction to someone on the TV that I'd never met.

I just couldn't put my finger on it but I instinctively disliked him.

I've had that with quite a few "celebs" (and people in RL) and in time I've found it was actually a good gut instinct.

NecessaryScene1 · 28/05/2021 23:17

Okay, that judgment is complete fucking gold.

It's not a refined refined, subtle flavour, like the Tavistock judgment.

In this case the sheer preposterousness of the defendant lets the judge take wing to deliver a character assassination the likes of which one rarely sees.

I wasn't that familiar with this Jessen character, but now feel I understand him. He's Alan Partridge, but worse.

The judge spends half the judgement picking apart his lying lies. It's less about his original behaviour towards Foster than letting everyone know exactly what sort of person he is overall.

At some point in the middle the judge refused more evidence - apparently to prevent Jessen from making his father perjure himself.

No further comment, because I like my account.
