My lovely GP, after diagnosing PND, has prescribed Sertraline as I'm still BF'ing my 7mo DD.
While I know that taking the meds is NOT an admission of failure, it kind of feels that way - deep down, you know? Part of me thinks "Don't take them" because then it'll be really real that I can't cope - while the other part says "Take them QUICK" because I haven't been coping!! Aaaargh - I'm going in circles... please tell me it'll all be alright!

If I do take the pills, when is the best time to take them? What side effects can I expect? How long till they kick in? > so apologies for the slightly insane post!!

Hi. I've been taking sertraline for a few months now.

I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to take the tablets but the PND isn't going to go away on its own and the sertraline will definitely help so go for it.

I was told to take them at the time when there is the longest gap between DD's feeds so in our case that is in the evenings.

I haven't had any side effects.

They did take a while to work though - probably about 6 weeks until I felt noticeably better. But, although I do still have the odd bad day I feel much better than I did.

Hope that helps and that you feel better soon.
