Fluoxetine (Prozac)...what to expect

Hi,

I have been prescribed Fluoxetine (20mg daily). I start taking them tomorrow.

Just trying to get some idea of what to expect. I know that they don't work instantly. And I know that they don't suddenly put a smile on your face. But I am not sure what i should be expecting in terms of timescale and what they will actually do.

Still no change.

Still nauseus. It is exactly like morning sickness....except I didn't have morning sickness too bad...so it is worse than ms for me. I also seem to be very light headed, but then I am not eating much and not really drinking much either. Still got the shakes too.

I am exhausted. I am waking at hideous hours and not able to get back to sleep. I can normally sleep efficiently during the day...but haven't been able to let myself off for a few weeks.

DP is fine. Bit up and down. TBH I don't know what I want. I fundamentally don't want him to go, but I can't live in limbo like this. Monday he seemed to want to stay. Tues was very cold. Weds was very compasionate when I was poorly (and even cuddled me), yesterday was very cold. Today he seems compassionate...It is just one big roller coaster.

Am hoping the ADs kick in soon...and side effects wear off...I feel that I would be able to deal with things a bit better when I am not constantly wanting to throw up.

Anyways...I am off to try and get my head down whilst DP is out with DCs.

Hello ThisBoy and chimchar! Hope all is well.

I was wondering if either of you would be happy to chat to me as tomorrow is going to be my first day taking Fluoxetine (first time taking any AD).

I'm not expecting a miracle and I know that it can take as long as 5 weeks to start feeling the effects but I'm really hoping that this will lift the black cloud that's following me around.

How are you both feeling at the moment? I've read the thread and it seems like you were both hit by nausea quite badly?

TIA

I'd actually like to know this as well! Been on citalopram 10 and 20mg but its not helping so have been advised to try prozac which I expect to get on friday.

Cannot really afford bad side effects with 3 15 month olds so would like to know what others felt when starting on them.
