very bad bad smell.....in the house.....please help..!!!!

feeling very down,.,,couple of days...we've a very bad smell in the house...comeing from a corner....close to the pipe under the stairs...
blowing up...specially when the heater is on....

I can't stand it....

We had mice in November...put poison dowm didn't have any from then..............

We do have wooden floor board in the kitchen...

it's an old house....we are renting.....
I will call the agency....

But I can't stand it....

I can feel in my chest don't know what to do...

hopefully won't hurt little ds breathing....

it's not much upstairs in the bedroom....

only grand floor...but it's too much!!!!!!

Deodorant spray is too much chemicals...and only worked for 5 minutes....

help....

Hate to say it but we rented rooms in a house where there had previously been rats. Mid winter housemate sleeping on ground floor got sick and there was a nasty smell in the kitchen. Turned out they'd put poison down but not removed the carcasses and the heating being on had made the remains whiff.... they planned to lift the floor and relay but we left before then. Really hope yours turns out to be just a blocked pipe (which can be very stinky too). Otherwise could it be a blocked flue in boiler or heater, which could be really dangerous - when was the last safety check and certificate issued ?

Blocked flue is unlikely to smell though - carbon monoxide, which is the gas pushed back into the room if the flue is blocked, is odourless.

If it is leaky pipe, would have thought smell would be continual - afraid it sounds like carcass to me, especially if heat makes smell worse.

the boiler has been checked few months ago...and seems to be ok.....

we are leaving in 7 weeks....but it's long to go....

I saw rats in the garden in the patio...
there is an infestation in all area....

never got in the house...also had the poison...that is always in the garden to prevent...

I would say deffo dead rat - tell the agency

oh god....hubby...just found a dead mice behind the fridge....close to the corner I was talking about,,,,,,,,

we didn't have mice since December....

does it take that long to decay???? And is only one make all this smell????

I wonder if there are many more to be find....

was just about to suggest a mouse - they really pong even if they've only been dead a little while. Glad you've found it now though

it does smell in all floor...kitchen and living room......

it was a dead rat...under floor board...
agency sent someone to get rid of it...

Smell is better now.....

we have been a bit sick (nausea)....and ds 7 months...today vomited....
don't know if related or bug!(I think is very sensitive)
