Postpartum weight worries while caring for and feeding my baby

This is awkward to say but these days my mind is in a constant fight between maintaining weight and loosing weight. After having a baby, I gained some weight around 8-10 kgs and initially I was fine with it. A few months have passed and now it is concerning me. Although I receive compliments from people on looking cute and chubby, but at the same time I am also criticized on my weight.

For me, what people say does not matter much and I am slowly getting to reduce the weight but people think I would not be able to reduce it ever if I do not do it now. This thought now preoccupies me that this could happen although I know I will do it.
At the moment, dieting or excess workouts are not possible for me as I have to look after the baby and feed them. I am afraid that my change in diet or reduction of food intake might affect their health. Is it possible to easily reduce weight after an year or so?

Calorie reducing diets are not recommended while you are breastfeeding your baby, but exercise is always a good idea. I found walking with my little one in the pushchair for and hour a day (usually around nap time) a good way to get fitter and I lost a little bit that way. However, once my baby was 6 months old and was having a little bit of food I was able to reduce the calories a little bit (while watching my milk production to make sure there wasn’t much difference), and with the hour’s walk a day this really helped. Also drinking 2.5L to 3L a day helped me feel full and keep milk production going.

I found the baby weight stayed on through breastfeeding until about 7 months. I was surprised that after that, even though I started to drop one feed a month in preparation for going back to work, the weight started to come off. So just because it hadn't happened yet, it still may happen without you changing anything but just still feeding.

How much are your breastfeeding now? If your baby's a year old and having some solids and whole milk, you can probably focus more what works for you to lose weight.

You carried your baby inside your amazing body. Birthed her and now you’re feeding her.
Please, please be kind to yourself and recognise how wonderful your body is. Stop being mad at it because someone close to you calls you ‘cute and chubby’ . Who the fuck says that to a new, breastfeeding mum?
Focus on being healthy for your body and mind. Becoming a mum is the biggest change you’re likely to ever experience . Please be kind to yourself - the size of your ass isn’t the most important thing right now.

Multiple People are commenting on your weight a few months after you gave birth? That’s actually shocking.
I suggest you spend less time with all of those people, concentrate on what an amazing thing your body has done and continues to do. Eat nutritious food and get exercise that you enjoy where you can. After your baby is 1 and feeding less the weight will probably start to come off fairly easily if you just eat sensibly and keep exercising.
