Hi has anyone felt better with citalopram? How long did it take. I’ve been taking 20mg for a month and don’t feel much difference 😩

Yes, it takes about 6 weeks and it is not some lightening bolt moment, you just realise over time you don't feel so blue. Stick at it x

Yes. Jittery at first then it slowly kicks in and works in the background x

I've been on it for 2yrs, started at 10mg then moved to 20mg after about 3 months. I'd say it was about another 3-4 months on the higher dose before I noticed a difference so it was quite long. It's not a cure and I still get anxious and have panic attacks but it's put it at a level where I can function again without feeling like I'm dying. I also take propranolol sporadically when I get the shakes/sweats. So use both as combo.

My dh takes 40mg, it’s literally saved his life and meant he’s been able to return to work whereas previously his depression and bipolar was so bad he was constantly signed off sick. He had some initial side effects for a few weeks but has been on it for around 8 years now with no issues.

Yes, I am taking the same dose and it took a couple of weeks to take effect. The only side effect was a dry mouth.

I was really poorly when the GP prescribed it to me and I can honestly say that it helped save my life.

Wait a bit longer and then speak to the GP again if there is no improvement.

I have been on it for about 3 years now.
