Affordable counselling; bullying parents. Help?

My husband has had a falling out with his parents. In short, his parents are very manipulative and selfish, especially his mother, and her recent actions have absolutely broken his heart. He needs to speak to someone professional to break down over 3 decades of bullying and emotional manipulation and come to some peace.

Counselling is something neither of us know much about. I know he can get a GP referral but he isnt on the brink of a breakdown so he may be a long time waiting. We are thinking of private options but we know this could be expensive and we are just a bog standard average earning household. Can anyone point us in some direction for online counselling or in face counselling in the gloucestershire area.

Thank you!

Have a look at your local branch of Mind. Here in Essex they provide affordable counselling for £20 a session.

What's affordable for one person is off limits for another. What you describe is very much something I work with; happy to let you know the cost via DM.

A lot of charities, community organisations etc train counsellors on placement and clients pay around £20-25 a session. Trainees are cleared to practice and have very stringent supervision so I would look around your area for those places if you are worried about cost. You can also check the BACP or Counselling Directory website for details of therapists in your area - they should all have their prices on there.
