Missed one Sertraline dose & feel horrific

I have missed doses here and there before, but I actually feel probably worse tonight than I even felt going onto Sertraline in the first place. I missed last evening’s dose and took tonight’s dose (so, a 48-hour gap between doses or thereabouts). I’ve been vomiting - literally projective vomiting - and have got the chills. Three layers on, fluffy socks, heating on - and the weather reached 22 degrees here today… I’m just flummoxed that I could feel this rough from a single missed dose and hence really scared about trying to come off this drug, which I’ve wanted to do for a while… I don’t really know why I’m posting this 🤷‍♀️

Also, I’m only on 50mg!

Could it just be coincidentally timing with a stomach bug? I've no experience sorry as I didn't last long on sertraline but reading it, that's what comes to mind for me

mynameiscalypso · 08/04/2026 22:48

Are you sure it’s the sertraline and that you haven’t come down with a bug coincidentally?

DarkLion · 08/04/2026 22:49

Are you sure op you don’t have another bug going on like a vomiting bug? I’m a nurse and it would be unusual to effect that drastically as the half life is around 24 hours. I’m also a long term user of antidepressants myself and when switching or coming off for pregnancy and the like it’s been a good few days of various antidepressants for any side effects. With vomiting and fever like symptoms, I’d suspect more it might be a virus with bad timing

MissCooCooMcgoo · 08/04/2026 22:49

Sound like you're ill op, not withdrawing from sertraline.

Sorry you feel rough

Spendysis · 08/04/2026 22:50

I agree could it be a coincidence and its a stomach bug you have

Realisation14 · 08/04/2026 22:50

There's no way a missed dose of sertraline would cause fever (chills), you're sick.

likelysuspect · 08/04/2026 22:51

Very unlikely to be the missed dose. You've got a bug or something, food poisonig perhaps

CoastalCalm · 08/04/2026 23:06

It takes days to leave the system

Oh gosh, well reading this it seems the consensus is a bug 😫 I really hope my baby daughter doesn’t catch it from me next. Thanks everyone for being my brain for me tonight. I’m just taking Panadol now for it 🙏
